I am not so much into these leagues ( including IPL), not watched any of these matches although I have heard that it is very competitive. Keep the updates going. I am interested in knowing which new Indian players showed some spark.

The tournament ended yesterday with Rarh Bengal Tigers winning the title.

The best player of the tournament award went to Sukhjeet Singh. People are questioning it on x. They say Thierry Brinkman or Jugraj Singh should have got it. It is good news if Jugraj played so well here which will will add to our doubles strength.

Where is SSP to give us some lowdown on which Indian players impressed ?

I tried posting my comments twice but somehow I got logged out.
Pleased to see the league went so well. 10 teams for the men's side and 8 for the women with a simpler league format would be better in future. Disappointing to see the low attendance for some of the matches

I watched most of the men's league and some of the women's.

On the women's side, apart from some of our established players (Neha, Salima Tete, Navneet & Preeti Dubey) and the youngsters, Baljeet & Sunelita Toppo, our players were not a match for the overseas talent. There's a fair gap to be make up for us to compete with the best international teams.

On the men's side, I'll list the youngsters that caught my eye:

GKs: Bikrmajit & Prince Deep Singh
Defence: Amandeep Lakra, Sukhvinder & Amir Ali
Midfield: Rajinder Singh & Rabichandra (not strictly a newcomer)
Forwards: Sudeep Charmako, Angad Bir Singh, Arshdeep, Bobby Singh Dhami & Uttam Singh (again not a total newcomer)

Of the core senior group, my take was:
Outstanding: Harmanpreet, Jugraj, Sanjay, Sunil, Hardik, Manpreet, Nilakanta Sharma, Dilpreet, Sukhjeet, Abishekh (in the last few matches)
Very good: Vivek Sagar Prasad, Neelam Sanjeep Xess, Shilanand Lakra, Karthi Selvan
Reasonable: Mohammed Raheel, Dipsan Tirkey & Gurjant
Didn't notice these: Shamsher, Raj Kumar Pal
Should be dropped: Amit (he wasn't terrible, but he's likely to let us down in a key match again), Jarmanpreet, Varun, Lalit & of course, Mandeep (who got very little pitch time- which is what I've been saying for 10 years!!)

Of the ex internationals, Devendar Walmiki, Jaskaran, Affan Yousseff and Nikkin Thimaiah played very well. Talwinder was ok and Akashdeep was appalling. Simranjit looks overweight and Rupinder is even slower and should make way for new talent in future HILs

My player of the tournament was Jugraj, who was brilliant in defence as well as top scorer. Close behind was Hardik and Thiery Brinkman.

Please add your comments to these lists.
