Gukesh D - 18th World Chess Champion

Basically a froum to cover chess now that we seem to have sufficient interest in the game.

Frankly, these aren’t that good. Watch other ones. You’ll laugh like you’ve never laughed before.

It's ok if you don't find the vedio good enough!!!! Not all vedios are equally liked by everybody

^^^ I think he meant there are some "Hitler reacts" videos out there that are even funnier. These were good but the Hitler stuff has more punch when it is for team events and for sports like American football, which have more of a "war-like" feel to it, compared to chess. There are some really good Hitler videos out there for shameful upset losses in football by Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, OU, etc.

There is one thing I really liked in this Hitler video though. The "named after Stalin" line. Most of the other Hitler videos strike out, unable to come up with something to match the "Stalin" at the end of one of Hitler's lines, and that is really the only word that people who don't know German would recognize. Well, there aren't too many Stalins in the world. Nobody of note, and certainly nobody who is the chief of 80 million people! That Stalin line was pure Gold :)

We should post some of the gems of this parody series in just for fun thread. They are a hoot. Like when iPhone is released. Almost every little event has been parodied. The people’s creativity knows no bounds!

P.S. if you like SNL, watch this one. It’s a classic in my opinion. All three actors were superb. Naseem as translator was absolutely hilarious. The “cash for clunkers” was over the top.

And this one is a similar one.

Don't know if anyone if following the Tata Steel Chess tournament. Gukesh is leading a strong field with 6.5 points out of 9. Arjun unfortunately is having a disastrous tournament and will fall a lot in the World rankings. Gukesh will now become India no. 1 and possibly world no. 4. Even Caruana will lose some ELO points from this tournament.

Yes, Gukesh has been steady in this tournament (Tata Steel, previously called Corus, which Tata Steel bought nearly two decades ago), and now leads with 6.5 points from 9 rounds. Praggnananda, who had been the co-leader until the 8th round, lost to Anish Girl (the Nepali from the Netherlands).

Anish Giri is not Nepali. He is Dutch. His mother is Russian. His father is Nepali with a grandparent from India. He was born in St. Petersburg and he lived in Japan from when he was six to 2008 or 2009, when he was perhaps 15. At that time, he played in Russia. In 2009, he switched to the Netherlands.

To complete his life story, he is married to a Georgian WGM (who is now Dutch) and they have 3 children who have great chess genes. :D

At Tata Steel chess, Gukesh drew in 12th round and Praggnananda won his 3rd straight game. So, both are tied at top with 8.5 points each. Last round today will decide the winner of this tournament.

Gukesh plays Arjun today. Arjun who was having a horror of a tournament found form yesterday beating Nodirbek this clearing the path for Gukesh and Pragg. I have a feeling Gukesh and Arjun will play out a draw. So either Pragg wins by winning today or there is a tie-breaker between Pragg and Gukesh. If Pragg loses today Gukesh wins further proving he is the best in the world barring Carlsen and Nakamura. Anyway Carlsen and Nakamura are more interested in freestyle chess now than classical chess.
