And with that Neeraj continues his run as medalist in big events since last 7 or so years. Amazing consistency.

Neeraj had a fracture on his left hand, coupled with the fact that he was still recovering from his groin injury. It is simply astounding that he still competed in the Diamond League final, and missed the gold by a whisker.

Neeraj Chopra is an extraordinary ornament in our success-starved athletics firmament. For a country that has a single previous Olympic or world championship medal in athletics (won by Anju Bobby George), the extraordinarily consistent successes of Neeraj Chopra over two Olympic cycles is simply mind-boggling.

Long may he continue to give us joy. But first, he needs to go away and heel his body before coming back stronger for the next season.

I can't wait for him to do this. Why is he delaying the surgery he needs to do? Go away, Neeraj. Go away. We don't want to see you! :) :)

Gulveer Singh sets a new NR of 27:14:88 for the 10,000 meters in winning an event in Japan. Breaks his previous best NR by an astonishing 27 secs. Only 33rd best in the world this year but the best by an Asian this year.

Yeah, at least he is a strong prospect for multiple Golds in the Asian Games, even if we can't expect much from him at the Olympics.
