I think it's the function of money. Yuki is more regular on the tour these days. Winning ATP tournaments. So he is ploughing back the money he wins, into developing his game. It's a good strategy. If his body is able to endure this, he might be able to crack top 20 in doubles.sameerph wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 3:40 pm If Yuki had that kind of support (coach and trainer travelling with him) while he played singles, he would have been a top 50 player and would not have had so many injuries.
Anyway, too late for that. Hope he can achive at least top 20 if not top 10 in doubles.

Re: US Open 2024
It's thanks to the Doubles Dream of India. Raven Klassen and Abhi Singh traveling. We all have been discussing the doubles dream of India for about 2 years now.
Leave aside a top 45 player like Yuki, similar support for any too 200 challenger doubles player.
Any Men's player in India who realizes that they don't have a chance to be a regular top 250 player (i.e., multiple years at top 250 ranking) should switch to doubles soon. Most of our players who couldn't crack the top 400 in singles, have stabilized themselves in the 80-130 doubles rankings.

Ah yes, I had forgotten that one! That made big news in 2017 and I thought RamK would rocket into the Top 100 and more. But alas, both he and Thiem are now struggling.

Re: US Open 2024
Second seeds Bops and Ebden lost against 16th seeds Argentine pair of Gonzalez and Molteni 61 75 in the round of 16.
So, Bops in mixed doubles is the only Indian contention left.

Re: US Open 2024
I watched most of Yuki's match. Our pair was absolutely awful. Yuki had a few good shots early on, but Olivetti was really bad -- missing simple volleys and broken in the first game of the match. In the second set, Yuki was broken twice and it was mainly his fault. It was really a forgettable match.

Bops and Aldila just upset Ebden and Wimbledon champion Krejickova 7-6 2-6 10-7. Our pair was up 8-2 in the 3rd set before letting their opponents catch up but thankfully Rohan’s serves won us the winning points.

Re: US Open 2024
Donald Young (the one-time phenom who never lived up to the potential or the hype around him as a young Young) seems determined to go out in a storm of Slam glory.
