Yet another 0-0 draw today, and an emotional send-off to Chhetri... Thank you man! You kept us live for 2 decades. Sadly, when you are leaving, we have nobody who can score a goal, to send you off on a winning note. Oh well. Thanks for the memories.

We are almost out of the reckoning for finishing 2nd in the group and advancing, as AFG and pool topper Qatar played a draw too, today. It would have really helped if they had beaten AFG. We are in second spot now, but have to get a point against Qatar next week (June 11) and hope that Kuwait-Qatar will end up in a draw too. If we beat Qatar, we are through. Can a hero emerge as a scorer in that match without Chhetri??

Here is the pool table:

Code: Select all

Pos Team Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1.	Qatar 5 4 1 0 16 2 +14 13
2.	India 5 1 2 2 2 5 −3 5
3.	Afghanistan 5 1 2 2 3 13 −10 5
4.	Kuwait 5 1 1 3 5 6 −1 4
Our goal differential is good in comparison to AFG, but things don't look good for finishing as 2nd.

India versus Qatar (Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, Doha) will be on in a few hours at 9:15 pm IST.... Can we pull a huge upset without Chhetri?

Qatar has already topped the pool, and apparently will take out some of their top players, so maybe we DO have a chance, if somebody or other gets hot or lucky with a couple of goals. But who is that somebody? Nobody knows. Manvir? Rahim Ali? Let me go out on a limb and say that Vikram Partap will be sent in, and he will turn into a Messi. No, I am kidding... would be nice though for somebody to emerge. Anyway, let's go India.

Can you belive it !!!!

Half time , we lead One Nil through a goal by Lallianzuala Chhangte.
#10 Jersey Brandon Fernandes is also looking exciting , but the Qatari have smartly restricted him.

We needed to move beyond Chetri. Else we would have got stuck. It will be difficult to defend this lead

^^^ Yeah :(

Well, the bad goal did not matter in the end, at least. QAT's final goal was well-earned. It would have been tied at 1-1 and Kuwait would have still advanced, so no damage done. We go back to the drawing board, and start on the next 4 years.

Wow. Does 100% of the ball need to be out or any part of it to be considered out of bounds? Is there no VAR (?) option?

Yes, 100% should be out. And the ball was 100% out.

Effectively the ball has to be more than 100% out. That is even if the part contacting the ground is fully over the line, the inner most edge of the ball can still be over the outer edge of the line and that is considered in under soccer rules.
