Fantastic win for Yuki at the Lyon STP semifinal!!

[SF] Yuki Bhambri (IND)/ Albano Olivetti (FRA) d. (1) Santiago Gonzalez (MEX) / Eduard Roger-Vasselin (FRA), 63 67(5) [10-7]
so,
[F] Yuki Bhambri (IND)/ Albano Olivetti (FRA) vs Harri Heliovaara (FIN)/ Henry Patten (GBR)

I think that is the best win of Yuki's doubles career? The guys they beat today are #11 and #12 in the world. Yuki moves to a new career-high of #52, two spots up. A win tomorrow can push him into the top-50, right at #50.

Wherever I read Yuki's partner name, always my first Dot Matrix printer "Olivetti " comes to my mind, and who knows he may be related to that fabled Engineering family :D :D

Just about the best win of his doubles career. Last year, when Yuki won his first ATP title on grass at Mallorca along with Lloyd Harris, they beat the same pair of Gonzalez and Roger-Vasselin in the SF. At that time Gonzalez was ranked 10 and Roger-Vasselin was ranked 13 - so combined rank of 23 against their current combined rank of 22.

Next to that same pair of Yuki and Olivetti beat pair of Gille and Villegen (combined rank 38) in first round in Munich ATP which they won.

I think the combined ranking is the same (23) in each case.

They lost in the final.

At Lyon ATP 250, France (Clay)

[F] Yuki Bhambri (IND)/ Albano Olivetti (FRA) l. Harri Heliovaara (FIN)/ Henry Patten (GBR) 63 67(4) 8-10

They Had a mp serving at 5-4, deuce in the second set, than lost both the tie breaks. In super tie break came back from 3-7 down to 8-7 but lost both points on Olivetti serve.

So, Yuki stays at #52 in rankings ( still his career high ) and instead Patten goes into top 50.

Yuki was playing some good tennis in the second set, feels like he needs to get a decent partner to help push up....

Stuttgart ATP 250, Germany (Grass)

Yuki will be against his gud friend Venus in the first round...

Tough match against the second seeded pair, but Yuki/Olivetti start strong by taking the first set 6-4
Wow! What a dominating win! Looks like grass courts are more suitable for these guys' style of play.... Excited for Wimbledon now... :D But let's see how they sustain this level of play for the next couple of weeks... :goodluck:

[R1] Yuki Bhambri (IND)/ Albano Olivetti (FRA) d. (2) Michael Venus (NZ)/ Neal Skupski (GBR) 64 62

Nice start to the grass season for Yuki. SF in last week's big challenger and now big upset in first round here in Stuttgart. He has 250 points to defend in couple of weeks time for his first ATP title at Mallorca, Spain . He will need to win a title at one of these 2 weeks of ATP 250's - this and Mallorca to defend those points and than build on this by winning some rounds at Wimbledon where he has nothing to defend.

At Stuttgart ATP 250 (Grass)

[QF] Yuki Bhambri (IND)/ Albano Olivetti (FRA) vs. Theo Arribage (FRA) / Sadio Doumbia (FRA)

Dominating win for Yuki/Olivetti!

Yuki is now at a new career high #51...

A win in the semis will get him to #50. A title will not help him from a ranking perspective, but will get him closer to the guys in the 40s.... :goodluck:

Excellent start to the grasscourt season for Yuki. Grass seems to be a good surface for him (at least in doubles). An ATP title last year in Mallorca, SF in the first tournament this year.
