Statistically he seems to played competitively. 72-77 on points until the last set tie-breaker. 0/4 on BPs for RamK versus 1/5 on BPs for Duckworth.

Hopefully, his singles game is on the way up back into the top 200....

Playing consecutive weeks does not seem to affect RamK as much as other Indian players. This was his fourth consecutive week and he is going to continue for next 3 weeks too- one in Georgia and 2 in US.

At the Challenger 50 in Kachreti, UKR (Hard)

[R1] (8) Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,343) vs Yshai Oliel (ISR,397)

Yshai just reached the final of the M25 in Kachreti this week with I believe a walkover in the SF today, so he is in good form.

RamK had initially entered for doubles at the Challenger 50 in Kachreti, Georgia, with Yun Seong Chung (KOR) but he withdrew a couple of days ago and RamK had to sign in with somebody else on site. Anyway, RamK and Yanki Erel are in the doubles draw, facing he Russian pair, Bogdan Bobrov and Aleksandr Lobanov.

Yes always tough to play against a player who is on a streak and playing in a zone, and this aspect was worried about as he usually doesn't make through against inform players.
So took him back few years and reminded him about Marco Chuidneli who had won a Challenger in Poland and the next week when they met him in France in R1, Ram took him out.

Anyway still very early days and one match at time as next is a qualifier who already has 3 wins under his belt.

A guy who does not know how to spell his first name correctly :p does not deserve to win. I hope Ram beats him soundly and then teaches him how to spell his first name. :-)

Hey, he is from Puerto Rico, which is some foreign country as per USA's last president. The current president probably does not remember whether USA itself is a foreign country or not. So cut this guy some slack, man!

AITA adds Ramkumar in the mix for Bopanna’s Olympic partner

Heck, AITA did something right! I like it. Who knows who Bops will actually pick in the end. Probably Balaji. That is my guess.

RamK has had a good start at the Kachreti Challener R2. Leading 61 00... He started serving aces in bunches again in the last match with 15. he has had 6 aces in the first set today. That is a good sign. Update: He won the match quite easily. It was out and out serve-and-volley all the way today.

[R2] (8) Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,343) d. (Q) Ulises Blanch (USA,528), 61 64

So Ram through to the last 8 with a facile straight sets, As usual his serve was on song with 8 aces to complement the 15 aces he had yesterday.

Saw the match between Sekulic and his German opponent, and the German looked a far better opponent and were he to face Ram, Ram would also would have had a tough match on his hands, so to overcome the German takes some doing, plus the Aussie is the top seed.

Hope Ram can turn the tables in this very important match against a very tough Top seed.

More seriously, I know Ulises is the right spelling of the name in Spanish. But, I am glad he got blanched. I would have been happier if he got blanked. However, I am just happy RR won in straight sets. Now, for more wins let's go RaRa.

Asian hard courts have been kind to us. We should exploit that part of tour more often

RamK has just made the main draw of next week's Challenger 75 in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA (Hard). He was first out in the initial list. He is also in the main draw list for the Tyler challenger in Texas, USA, the week after too. Good to see him rather regularly making direct entry into some challengers. The ranking keeps inching up too. Up to #327 in live-ranking now.
