Re: Ankita Raina thread
I am surprised to find out that both KKT and AR got married late last year. I guess it was because I was going through some personal issues in Nov so missed all the news.
In fact, I was wondering about Ankita just last week, as she is in her 30s. So good to see that.
I feel women players generally change focus after they get married. Either because they want to or because they have to. Let's see what happens in their cases.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita and Prarthana received a main draw wildcard to the Dubai WTA 1000 doubles as well. They draw a tough pairing of Shuko Aoyama/Aleksandra Krunic.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita has sadly been in free fall, form-wise, since she got married in late-December. I hope she can stem the downturn soon.

She's probably mentally moved to the next phase of her life. If so, best wishes to her.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Is this just a feeling on one fine day or do you have people in mind? Who in the past went through a fall in their play after getting married?

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita lost the R1 at the W50 in Kashiwa (JPN) today, 67(1) 64 67(1) to a former #186 player, Ya-Hsuan Lee (TPE,356)... Ankita had beaten her at Indore last month by a 16 67(7) score, and had beaten her once 9 years ago by that exact score, but Ya-Hsuan turned the tables this time, even after Ankita served for the match at 5-3 in the third set. Ankita has again lost a bit of her edge that she had regained last year.
Ankita and Chia Yi Tsao (TPE) are the second seeds and won 62 61 over Yu-Yun Li (TPE) and Hong Yi Cody Wong (HKG) in the doubles R1 there.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
And with that loss today, Ankita is down to 254 in live rankings. A little outside where one would expect the cut at French open qualifying which has a cut off date of April 29.
Ankita has no points to defend till that date now but need to pick up a few before cut off date. Next week, Ankita will be with Indian team for BJKC cup. So, 2 more weeks left after that for Ankita to make some points.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Another disappointing one sided loss for Ankita in first round of W50 in Georgia, She lost Catherine Harrison (USA,485) 26 06.
Her game seems to be totally off right now.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Ankita is in complete meltdown since her wedding, sadly. She needs to regroup, take a bit of time off and come back stronger.

Re: Ankita Raina thread
Time for Ankita to focus on doubles. There is really no point in playing singles, unless things improve fairly quickly, like in a month or two. If not, quit and save your body for 3-4 (or more) years of good doubles.
