Yeah, if he played this well against top college players, he is bound to get to at least top-30 in NCAA rankings by ITA (Interschostic Tennis Association that oversees various NCAA levels and the NAIA levels in college). Top-30 players typically have at least top-500 quality. Top-10 college players may generally become at least top-300 later.sameerph wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 7:43 am Yes, Johns won a M15 title the week before as well and also has challenger main draw wins this year. The opponent he beat in the SF, Rodenas won a M25 title this year. So, both are clear top 400-500 level players and Suresh seems to be playing at that level this week. This in current Indian singles context is significant as we have only 3 players ranked in top 500 currently.
Hope he gets to play some good opposition this year in college tennis with Wake Forest and his game further improves to top 300 or so level soon which he seems to have potential for. ( based on this 1 week).

Ankita and Rutuja are in Japan at the W50 Kofu ITF. Rutuja won her first round qualifying match against Morvayova, but hasn’t completed her second/final round yet due to the inclement weather. Supposed to be a sunny day for the matches to finally resume on Wednesday.
At W50 Kofu, Japan:
QR1 (3) Rutuja Bhosale (367) 6-4 6-3 Viktoria Morvayova (SVK,563)
QR2 (3) Rutuja Bhosale (367) versus (14) Erika Sema (JPN, 449)
Main draw:
R1 (8) Ankita Raina (242) versus (WC) Kyoka Okamura (JPN,331)
Ankita and Rutuja are in the doubles draw as well as the 3rd seeded team. If there is no rain, Rutuja may have to play as many as 3 matches tomorrow (2 singles and 1 doubles)

Kofu live webcams show no rain today, as of now at 8:30 am. Hope they will get to play finally. Two days got rained out, it seems.

It also seems that we have a tough time playing in Japan. Not sure of the data, but it just seems so. I wanted to but didn’t post that I saw Ankita losing this when I read about her Thai opponent and playing in Japan. And, my fear turned out to be true.

Both Japan and Korea, actually. Have rarely done anything much there.

Ankita and Rutuja had a good win (7-6 1-6 11-9) in the doubles QF however against the Aussie paring of Priscilla Hon/Liz Cabrera. Nice little birthday gift for Rutuja.

Ankita/Rutuja upset top seeds 76 63 in the semis to move to the final round. Hope they win their first title of the year.
Elsewhere, Vasanti Shinde lost in the finals of the W35 Terrassa ITF with her Spanish partner. Score 7-5 7-6. Well fought!
Also, 2nd seeds Niki/Rithvik upset an up and coming SoCal team of Seggerman/Trhac in the semifinals today at the San Luis De Potosí ATP Challenger. The Indian duo had also scored a tight win against Vasek Pospisil/partner in the QF round. First team to enter the finals, they will fancy their chances against an unseeded team for the trophy.

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...
For the record, 3rd seeds Ankita and Rutuja lost the final last week at W50 Kofu, 36 577 to Erina Hayashi and Saki Imamura of Japan... Ankita is at the W50 Kashiwa, JPN... Rutuja is not there this week, so we move to the Ankita thread.
