Re: Paris Olympics 2024
I would think we will find it hard to match or exceed previous Games performance. We seem to have regressed in wrestling, weightlifting and hockey, so we could end up with 3 less medals than last time. Only in shooting we seem to be doing better than last time, but we all know what finally ends up happening in shooting. My prediction would be 4 medals, 1 each in athletics and badminton and 2 out of 3 in boxing, wrestling and shooting.

Yeah. He was getting really high elevation over those hurdles. Unbelievably flexible body, which is why.

And, with our yoga genes, things that require flexibility should at least give us some brownie points.

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
This bridge article hasn't mentioned anything about how she fared in comparison to her competitors. It only mentioned that she lifted 81kg/103Kg ((184kg overall) in comparison to her personal best of 88kg/119kg (207 over all).
To put things in perspective, she was 3rd in her group and 12th overall as this article mentions.

The north Korean is followed by 2 Chinese in the medals.
Ri Song Gum (PRK) — 221 (97/124)
Hou Zhihui (CHN) — 217 (97/120)
Jiang Huihua (CHN) — 208 (94/114)
>>We understand she is coming from injury break, but even then, with just 3 months left for Olympics, I think its safe to move her from "Decent chance to win" category to "Miracles can happen/no hope" .

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
The PRK lifter can't qualify l think based on minimum participation criteria and only 1 out of the 2 Chinese can participate, so it's not all that bad. But she will still have to lift a total of at least 200kg to have a medal chance I believe because the lifters from THA and USA are not far behind.

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
No PRK lifter is eligible.
China is 75% odds if they send a lifter in this category - they will be favorite for gold in 4 weights but can only send 3 female lifters.
I would put Mirabai as the 4th or 5th best lifter in current form (Asian games form) with a best that can help her match the silver.

^^
Her lift of 184 Kg is way below her own personal best of 207 kg. she was 12th over all in the most recent competition. So do you think she is playing safe knowing very well that just a qualification might be enough as medal is not possible anyway returning from injury lay off and will be returning to her best in 3 months time?

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
This is from Mirabai and she seems confident to increase her lifts by Paris-
Mirabai Chanu’s confidence returns: ‘I will do it. If I lift more than 200 kg, then (medal) ho jaega’
