In womens doubles, Ashwini-Tanisha comfortably in as of now in 11th place. Tresa-Gayatri are 27th right now and need some deep runs in big tournament to overtake Ashwini-Tanisha.

sameer - we should use the same scale for both pairs. Tanisha/Ashwini are 19th and Treesa/Gayatri are 27 in race to paris. After removing pairs who are ineligible, the former are 11.

Do you know why Tanisha/Ashwini got so many points for this tournament? Seems like they won points because of India going deep despite not playing which seems very weird.

And how did Prannoy get so many points and more than Lakshya despite losing matches?

No idea how points got distributed at Asian team championships.

In the meantime, Malaysian Ng Tze Yong who is 15th in the race to Paris ( just 1 shot above Lakshya has got injured and is likely to miss most of the tournaments in March as per this-

That article was published after they won Iran international challenge in early February. After that they have won 2 more titles at that level, Azerbejian international week after that and Ugandan international today. They beat our #1 pair Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy twice in this 3 week title winning run.

India fields a super strong team for the Thomas Cup and a 2nd string team for Uber Cup with Sindhu and both the doubles pairs not going.

The selectors have named young stars Anmol Khrab, Ashmita Chaliha, and Tanvi Sharma who were part of the gold medal-winning team at the Badminton Asia Team Championships this year.

Excited to see Anmol and Tanvi, would have liked to see Unnati as well.

In the meantime SatChi have withdrawn from the Asian Championship. Apparently Satwik has a shoulder injury. Hope it is not serious. WOuld like to see them do well in the Thomas Cup and Olympics.

Yes but we don't have a good doubles pair. SO I don't see them progressing beyond the group stage.
In the men's we have Prannoy, Lakshya, Srikanth, Priyanshu, SatChi and our 2nd best and competent doubles pair of Arjun and Dhruv. Kiran George and Sai Prateek are reserves. So a pretty strong squad at least on paper.

No one is suggesting they would rajit. It would be a shock if they even win one match. I am excited for the learning opportunities for Anmol and Tanvi.

Underwhelming results at the Asian badminton championships with a lot of mostly expected first round losses (would have liked an upset or two) and HSP and PVS barely avoided getting upset themselves and won in 3 tight games after losing the first game. Tanisha/Ashwini got a walkover but have WR #3 Japanese pair in R2.

PVS plays Han Yue and Prannoy plays #19 Taiwanese.

Terrible day for Indian sports continued in badminton. HSP and Tanisha/Ashwini lost easily, PVS put a bit of fight but also lost. No representation in the QFs

The only good thing that happened at this Asian badminton championships or rather after it is that Tanisha and Ashwini have now mathematically qualified for Paris Olympics.

Otherwise it was disamal. Prannoy shows no signs of getting back to last year's form, Sindhu is up and down, Priyanshu is stuck after early promise, Srikanth seems to be on permanent decline. Only of Lakshya we can say that he got a tough draw against top seeded Chinese Shi Yu Qi in first round.
