Re: Sumit Nagal thread
^^^ Well then the draw would completely open up for him with Davidovich Fokina in QF, Hurkacz in SF, and then Rublev in final.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Indian Wells qualifying draw is out.
At Indian Wells ATP Maters 1000, USA (Hard)
[Q1] (8) Sumit Nagal (IND,101) vs. Stefan Dostanic (USA,580)
Dostanic is from USC and has career high college ranking of #2 and has not played full year of pro tennis. So, his ranking of 580 is a bit of a misnomer. But, hopefully Sumit will overcome him.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
As good a a match up that Sumit could have hoped for. Potential Q2 opponent are Kwon on a PR and Watanuki who is 124. Good luck to Sumit to take advantage of this draw.
7.8K for Q1, 14.4K for Q2, and 30K for qualifying in.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Sumit with 903K career earnings and should easily cross the 1M mark soon , and think in the process would become the fastest Indian of all times in hitting the 1M mark , of all our players who have cross 1M have taken longer , probably Somdev might be close , not sure about all this
But reckon that could be the case of Sumit being the fastest Indian to cross the 1M mark.
Vijay @1.33M, RK @1.26M,Somdev @1.45M, Yuki,Ram @1.2 and RB,LP,MB , crossed the 1M mark well after their singles career was over.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
LP crossed $1mm in 1998 when he turned 25. Of course, most of his earnings were in doubles. Obviously, 1mm in 1998 is worth quite a bit more than 1mm today.

Yes, if we want to compare, we have to adjust the time value of money wrt inflation, etc. and then compare. Otherwise, it is somewhat meaningless.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Actually when he crossed 1 Million in 1998, I think he had about 60% of his earnings from singles. At least 500K. After 1998, it was probably 95% doubles, as he hardly did anything much after 1999 in singles, except to beat Federer for his last top-50 win.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Seems like Sumit will easily move to the Main. Who will be his opponent? I am praying for an easy draw so he can get a couple of W's. For some reason he gets bad draws against some high seed.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Good win for Sumit and he's lucky to get an ALT in Q2 (Hong ranked 227) instead of 124 ranked Watanuki. He should definitely be favored to qualify.
Good news is that the top 32 seeds get a bye at IW, so the best player he can play in R1 will be ranked in the 30s. First, though he needs to take care of business and qualify.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Nice dominating win by Sumit.
Sumit has played Hong thrice on ITF junior tour and lost all 3 times back from 2012 to 2015 but they have never met in pros. Hopefully can avenge that today.
