I was hoping for a Indian win in Semis not for the sake of Indian team, but with a glimmer of hope that it would pull Saffron back to forum. Now that's gone! but hopefully he will be enticed to post in the run up to Olympics during Olympic year.

We are a small family on this sports forum in a big country of billion people and if we still manage to tick off a fellow member so much that he decides to stop posting on the forum, the blame is on us. Losing one of the prolific poster is great loss, we should strive to learn conveying any difference of opinion without hurting a soul...think Jay when you are about to say something that may hurt some one, because he exercises so much caution phrasing the words when he disagrees with someone. Makes me retrospect things i may have said before...and will double down consciously when i disagree with some one! That's the least i can be doing for Lenin of this forum...the "saffron" one not the dictator i despise. some one said it may be due to his name, for all we know it may be his real given name to which he added saffron flavor, not entirely surprising considering some socialist parents of 70s-80s used to name their children Lenin. We used to have a compound archery coach "Cherukuri Lenin" who 1st made this sport take roots in this country but lost his life in an accident right after Delhi Common wealth games.

In the same sentence, he said men and girls referring to junior men and junior women. If people are going to keep defending that, then we should have the right to call out that discrimination.

It is one thing to let things go. It is another thing to say that that is correct and the response was not. The response could have been less vigorous. But, calling out that duplicity was fine.

Where do we draw the line if we want to let every abominable comment go? Sorry!

I think the better way is to call a truce but that means both sides should stop commenting on things. If one side keeps commenting on things, the other has a right to respond.
Agree with prasen.

No one has driven saffron out. He was told very politely by prasen not to call young women girls and he refused to do it. I asked him to stop posting incorrect articles or do some research before doing so, and he just blamed the website instead of saying mea culpa and learning from it.

Poor posting and duplicitous comments should always get called out. If I wanted to see posts from Indian media, it is very easy for me to open thebridge.in, sportskeeda or any such website.

Not everyone is as fastidious as others are. I don’t have a problem with someone posting a link that might have errors. It’s up to the reader to accept it or reject it. If one poster seems loose with their choices, I think you can add a “foe” in settings. Not sure if it works because I never tried it nor would I likely feel so strongly about anyone. This is not a paid job. We need to leave space for political incorrectness and contrary views.

I’m firmly in the other camp on this one.

FYI—sensitized to this usage, I’m seeing boys used all over the place. Case in point, just watched the movie, “The boys in the boat.” I cringe more when the men’s cricket team calls themselves boys than junior women being called girls.

We do not need to leave unopposed space for misogyny. Contrary views are always welcome. None of us asked him to be banned. He had his space to repeat his misogyny. Just to recap, it is not loosely calling men boys and women girls. In the same sentence, he called junior men, men, and junior women, girls. I also did a search on his previous posts and saw the same pattern. There are some in this forum who do not want such misogyny unopposed. All we are doing is airing our views. These views should not be shut up for the sake of "leaving space for political incorrectness".

That said, I will try to think and phrase things in the least offensive ways while strongly standing for my views in the future. However, even after being called out, he doubled down on his misogyny. So, I doubt a private message would have worked. But, I will try in the future.

Don't feel guilty at all dear friend...you did nothing :-) , your comments were never personal and rather rooted to the issue.

By definition:
a person who hates or discriminates against women : a misogynistic person
I do not know if he hates women and don't want to go there. Here is the exact quote
Missed the mens match!!! But seems like from your comment that their performance is as poor as girls performance!! Do they play as poorly as girls hocket team played????
Men for the junior men. Girl for the junior women. That, my friend, is the definition of "discrimination" in my books. QED. Be it subconscious or conscious. I don't know. And, it does not matter.

Infantilizing terms for women in direct contrast with terms used for men is not good whether it is conscious or subconscious due to generational and social norms. Article on the problem

@Kind moderator
Could you please move the non relevant posts to a separate thread so that those who are not interested be spared.

We lost 1-3 against Spain and finished 4th, same place as last junior world cup. I watched quite a bit of today's and were not bad but Spain were much better, much more organised in defense, we again could score only once out of 9-10 penalty corners.

Germany beat France 2-1 in the final to become junior world champions.
