Sumit lost the second set 1-6. Sumit is losing his way a bit.

In the deciding third set, Sumit was down an early break and was trailing 2-4 but he broke back in 8th game and than has held at love for 5-4.

Couple of easy holds and Sumit leads 6-5 in third set.

Koepfer held at 30 for 6-6.

But, Sumit lost the tie break.

At Basel ATP 500, Switzerland (Hard)

Encouraging performance even though he lost. He did as well as he does against top 100 players on clay at his best.

Clearly proves that there are some hard courts he can play on. Known slower HCs like IW and Miami would also work for him although he likely does not have the ranking to make the qualies in those.

He can play on hard courts, about as well as he plays on clay. I have always felt that and his results also probably show it. He seems to feel he has a bit more of an edge on clay though.

Sumit made it to his fourth challenger final of the year this week in Helsinki, Finland where he lost in the final against Contantin Moutet. His results are in the tournament thread-

Helsinki Challenger

With that surprise run on indoor hard courts, he is #141 in live rankings. Now, 1 week of break and than 2 weeks of challengers on clay in Spain to end the season for Sumit.

I don't like him playing on hard courts. Will get injured. I think. Maybe I am wrong. But, as long as he is playing anyway, I am glad he is winning.

Sumit lost in first round. :-(

At Valencia Challenger 100, Spain (Clay)

[R1] Sumit Nagal (IND,141) l. (LL) Alejandro Moro Canas (ESP,249) 46 36

In both the sets, Sumit was up a break but Spaniard came back strong to take both the sets.

He needs to be more consistent. He wins a tournament and then ducks out early the next one. Not good.

Sumit generally has to work hard to get his wins. If everything isn’t working right, he has a good chance of losing. In general, he does work hard, so not sure what happened here.

Well. Sumit draws the same player whom he lost to last week.

At Maspalomas Challenger 75, Spain (Clay)

[R1] Sumit Nagal (IND,140) vs. Alejandro Moro Canas (ESP,235)

Can Sumit turn the tables this time ?
