Maybe your mentioning top-spin reminded me of Monica Niculescu. She has this forehand slice which is sublime because it turns modern players who expect power crazy! She hardly hits a full blooded forehand shot and is world #28. She has exceptional volleying skills, exceptional control and placement, and very good match sense I presume. But, to survive, she has a strong two-handed backhand. So, parts of her game is power but the forehand slice and the delectable dropshots reminded me of some finesse players such as RK. Of course, somewhat ironically, she has "huge top spin" but a similar player in a different way. Niculescu's best

Re: Ramesh Krishnan thread
In some sense, Niculescu is the opposite (of some of the weaker amateur players). She slices the forehand and has a powerful, attacking two-handed backhand.

Classic vintage Tennis from the 1985 Wimbledon Championships
Ramesh Krishnan taking on the world #3 Jimmy Connors in the 3rd round and bowing out in a close 4 setter.
It is huge treat to watch the now extinct touch play ,percentage Tennis ,with Ramesh playing it to perfection, taking the ball early and hitting the lines with precision.
Sr Krishnan too can be seen sitting in the front row decked in black suit and watching the proceedings along with his wife and RK's wife.

Re: Ramesh Krishnan thread
Thanks for that video. Sweet memories. When have we last seen single-handed backhand down the line shots like these two were hitting? The one that gave RK triple set pts in the second set was a beauty! He served so slow that he could get to the net by the time the opponent even started swinging!
