Chirag Duhan (IND,1478) was the seventh seed and qualified into the M15 in Monastir. He beat a Turkish wildcard and then beat the 10th seed Alessandro Coccioli (ITA,1543), 75 76(5). He plays a fellow qualifier, Louis Tessa (FRA,1264) in the R32.

Sravya was the 2nd seed in the qualies with a bye and made the main draw with a 64 75 win over an unranked 15 year old Australian. Thee three are there for next week's W25 in Perth as well, but they are 5th, 6th and 11th out from the main draw. It doesn't look like we should start a thread for the 2-week W25 series in AUS, so let us keep the results here. Or can move the posts if any of them do well.
Both Sowjanya and Srvya lost in first round today, Srvya with a decent 3 set loss against 640th ranked Australian. Shirvalli plays third seed 250th ranked Destanee Aiava. So, don't think we will need a thread.

^^^ Sravya was up 61 32, up a break, and proceeded to totally fall apart. How many times should we see this? It is so easy for others to make comebacks on our players, and it is so rare that one of our players come back after dropping the first set. Yeah, we don't need a thread

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...
The three failed to qualify, kinda like expected. Teja and Smriti lost in quick 2-setters. #1253 Vaishnai had to go the distance to get past a wildcard Aurora Urso (ITA,ITF-850) in a 67(5) 63 62 match. Okay, she pulled a comeback three-setter that I was asking for, above, so I should be happy I guessjayakris wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 2:57 am Teja, Smriti and Vaishnavi are in the main draw at the W15 in Monastir. The first two play the top seed and the 3rd seed. Vaishnavi got a wildcard in R32. Three less-known Indians are in the final qualies today there (Pari Singh, Addi Gupta and Lakshmi Singh).

This time, Vaishnavi prevents the top seed from making a comeback on her, and pulls off a big upset at the W15 in Monastir. 18 year old #1253 Vaishnavi upset Elena Milovanovic (SRB,695), 75 57 50 (RET) just now. No sympathy for her opponent from me - it shows total lack of sportsman spirit to not stay on court and let Vaishanvi serve four points and get a proper win. In the QF, Vaishnavi plays a qualifier, Luisa Hrda (GER,ITF-1374) who upset the 5th seed in R2.
It is actually three qualifiers and Vaishnavi who are in the QF from the upper half of the draw, so a great chance for Vaishanvi for a run, but the qualifiers are all probably good!

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...
Good to see a very good win by Vaishnavi. After a very good run by Vaishnavi to QF and SF thru qualifying here in Tunisia in end April, early May, Vaishnavi played just 2 tournaments in Thailand in last 4 months which was surprising. Maybe either injured or taking exams or something I guess.

Vaishnavi Adkar (IND) shellacked qualifier Luisa Hrda (GER,ITF-1374), 60 61 in the QF at the Monastir W15. She faces another qualifier, Elena Grekul (UKR,ITF-1293) in the SF.

At the W15 in Monastir (TUN)
[SF] Vaishnavi Adkar (IND,1253) d. (Q) Elena Grekul (UKR,ITF-1253), 63 26 57
Great job by Vaishnavi to come back from a 3-5 hole in the third set and win 4 games on the trot and win the match. She won 12 of 14 points there to break twice and go ahead to 6-5. After a medical time out (not sure who called it), VA was again down 15-40 but saved both BPs and won 4 points to finish the match. This is her first ITF pro final. Terrific for an 18 year old. I am getting very excited about Vaishnavi. The final is against the 3rd seed Aruzhan Sagandikova (KAZ,829).
This gives Vaishnavi 8 WTA points to take her total to 15 and ranking up by around 225 spots from the current 1253 to right outside the top-1000

Vaishnavi lost in the final 67(6) 06 against 18 year old third seed from Kazakhstan. At one time, Vaishnavi was leading 5-3 in the first set but could not win that set and then fell away in second.
Anyway, a very good run by her.

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...
Starting to do well this season after turning pro late 2021. 3 consecutive finals (in doubles) in 8 tournaments in Monastir this season. Hope someone is really investing in his capabilities.

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...
Tanisha Kashyap (IND,1104) upset the 8th seed Flavie Brugnone (FRA,815) 46 64 76(7) to reach the QF at the W15 in Monastir today. Tanisha had beaten Diana Chehoudi who was in the top-1000 last year, 61 75 in the first round.
Jennifer Luikham is back on tour, at Monastir again... She took a month off after going 2-17 since last december, but nothing changed this week. She lost 36 64 16 to a wildcard. She just does not win the third set these days. 2-8 in third sets and an STB this year.

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...
Tanisha had lost to Marente Sijbesma ranked right near her at around #1100 last week, 62 16 36.
This week at the Monastir W15, Zeel Desai (4th seed), Teja Tirunelveli and qualifier Shivani Ganesh have also joined Tanisha and Jennifer. Tanisha lost to the second seed and Teja to the 5th seed in the R1. Shivani and Jennifer also lost (with Jennifer again losing a 3rd set, 06 64 46 to a wildcard). Zeel beat a wildcard and then a qualifier (today) to reach the QF.
