At 40-40, the ball was called OUT which was challenged by our guys and it turned out to be IN. But the umpire wanted the point replayed because the initial call was early and that contributed to the opponents hitting it out...

Not fair.
I believe if it happened in the other direction, the point would have been awarded. The ump is a respected one though and you see him everywhere.

Yes, that was unfair and point should have been awarded to Indians which could have ked to break of serve.

Overall, though Yuki's serve deserted him in third set which proved the difference. In first 2 sets, his serve was nit broken even once. He also served 2 aces in one service game. But, in the third set, he could not get enough first serves in and that made the difference. Saketh improved his game as match went along but at net he was still not that good in third set.

Our pair needs to cut down those bad streaks of Yuki's serve and Saketh's return/net game if they have to beat high level players such as these consistently. One deep run is needed in slams to maje it to top 50.

Manas's next match is going to be quite tough , faces H Searle of Britain , ranked #25 junior in the world and the one who took out the top seed Prado Angleo the 2023 French Junior finalist in the opening round.

The Bolivian top seed is world #2 junior and also is ranked around 770 on the ATP computer and probably his lack of grass court play which would have been an alien surface to him led to his quick R1 exit.

But still a much higher ranked Briton at #25 who took out the top seed and one who has more grass court exposure than Manas and also playing at home will be a very tough opponent to beat with all the factors in his favour ,but if at all Manas manages to succeed it will be a huge major victory.

Updating our other junior result -

[R1] Yuvan Nandal (IND,53) l. Jan Hrazdil (CZE,31) 36 26

Yuvan seems to be having some injury and played only French open and Wimbledon juniors and no warm up tournments.

Manas will be playing his second round match on Tuesday. Today, Rohan and Ebden will be playing their second round match against British wild cards.

This has been a very impressive run for 15-year-old Manas Dhamne -- to qualify into the main draw with a couple of good wins, and then to beat a slightly higher-ranked Hayden Jones in the first round. (Although Manas does have a slightly better ATP ranking than 16 year old Jones). He has a tough R2 on Tuesday against a Briton, Searle, ranked 25 among juniors and slightly better-ranked than Manas on the ATP list too. Very important test for Manas, but what I like is the fact that Manas has been putting up some impressive performances on the Futures circuit and is beginning to make serious noise as a 15-year-old at the junior Slams. I think he is a contender for a junior Slam title within the next 15 months.

Disappointing that no Indian pair is playing the boys doubles. And where, pray, is Shruti Ahlawat? Injured, I presume :(

Looks like Pel/Stadler are making the most of it after getting in as an ALT pair...

More or less on expected lines and Dhamne gets swamped in the opening set and loses it at 1.

Just when he appeared to find his bearings, gets broken to go down 34 with the Briton to serve for 53.
Key factor is the serve, Searle has 7 aces while Manas 7 DF's

A small window in 7th game whenDhamne had a BP, but the Briton held his nerve for a 53 lead

I’m seeing a good fight in set 2. I have great vibes about this kid - a good serve coach will do wonders for his game. Where does he play next after Wimbledon?

In H Searle, I’m seeing an opponent who is 2 years older at 17 and already 6’ 4”” tall. He’s doing well to stay at 4-5 second set. He may lose but he has done well in set 2.

Yes Prof, the 6'4" height turning out to be a huge advantage, as has already thumped down 13 aces

5-4 , and Searle 40 love up to serve out the match and the rain came..
Courts are covered now.

Yes, Prof, I like the fight that Manas has put up in the second set. He is 6'2" too, but is only 15 years old and could yet grow taller. This kid is going to go very far. This match, though, is almost gone...
