The FIde Women's Grand Prix is going on at Munich. This is one of the qualifying events for the women's world championship. After 5 rounds Humpy has 3 points and is 2nd. Hariks is on 2.5 points.

Humpy finished 2nd in the Fide Women's Grand Prix at Munich with a score of 7/11. She could have won this tournament. In the penultimate round she had the eventual winner Alexandra Kosteniuk on the mat but her opponent managed to escape with a draw and finally win the tournament with a half point lead. The good news is that Humpy is back in form. She was undefeated and had a +3 record. The next Grand Prix would be in India and one would expect her to do well and strengthen her chances in the current World Championship cycle. Just for the records Harika finished fourth with a score of 6.

Delhi at it again. Shameful.

What’s with all the issues and controversies at the FIDE Women's Grand Prix Third Leg in Delhi. Players complaining about poor organization, bad hotel, no transport, player withdrawals etc.

Is this news of Chinese holding both men’s and women’s championship noteworthy? Didn’t realize Chinese have now conquered the chess world.

Ding's triumph means China holds both the men's and women's world titles, with current women's champion Ju Wenjun set to defend her title against compatriot Lei Tingjie in July.

Well, the #2 actually. Carlsen is still the #1. Well, Nepo is #2 still. But, we can say that the Chinese guy, who is #3 upset Nepo and thus is #2. He is the world champion because Carlsen did not participate but that is Carlsen's fault.

The young gun is Alireza (representing France). We'll see how he progresses.

D. Gukesh is 13th in the July FIDE list. The youngest in the top 100.

The FIDE federation rankings has India 3rd in the open section and 2nd in the womens section. Given that chess is widely played (with nearly a 100 countries having native GMs), our chess accomplishments are commendable.

Of course, our issue with chess has always been whether it is a "sport." Not sure that there is a conclusive answer to it although chess results are generally reported worldwide in the sports sections of newspapers and sports sites.
