Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Two juniors have excelled. Yashasvi and NTTV. Both, at least Yashasvi should be in the national team.
Total Impact Leaders: Siraj, Yashasvi, Axar, Piyush, Dhawan, Jadeja, Ashwin, Shami, Arshdeep, Shubman, Ruturaj
We have Dhawan, Ruturaj, Yashasvi, Gill, Rahane as the batters. Shami, Arshdeep, and Siraj the bowlers. Axar, Jadeja, and Ashwin as the spinning allrounders. And, Piyush the leggie.
Obviously, there are not enough bowling overs to feed all these bowlers. So, we should drop some bowler and get batters in. Arshdeep goes out. And, we need a pace bowling allrounder since we can't really have 3 #11s.
We need a keeper. The best keeper batsman has been Prabhsimran.
So, Dhawan, Ruturaj, Gill, Yashasvi, Rahane, Prabhsimran, Axar, Jadeja, Piyush, Shami, Siraj
But, we need a pace-bowler who does not have a hole in his bat. Which leads us to Harshal Patel. I don't like him per se but others have not either bowled even barely decently and batted barely decently. Rahane goes out.
Dhawan, Ruturaj, Gill, Yashasvi, Prabhsimran, Axar, Jadeja, Harshal, Piyush, Shami, Siraj
Still a very weak tail with the bat in the last 4. This is the IPL'23 Indian team so far. No consideration given to any prior records.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Kumar Kartikeya, Shams Mulani, D Jadeja, Sai Kishore, R Bhisnoi have given good performances in last 2 domestic seasons, but the A team games have been very much less and in those games selectors have opted for Kuldeep Yadav & Washy Sundar then trying new spinners. Except Vyshak, Charak, Hangregekar this year IPL has been disappointment in getting new pacers, franchises are not ready in give chances to new pacers. Still wondering what Harshal has given to the team with the bat
( both RCB & India) that is name comes with a support that he can bat, in such instances even Umesh & Shami has done better then Harshal with the bat on few opportunities they got.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Patel has scored 12.83@135 SR for India. Shami averages 0. Siraj averages 5@a SR of 70 and stinks it up in the field giving away 4-8 runs regularly. Patel is much better. In domestics, Siraj is 8.33@83 SR - too slow and too less. Shami averages 5.4@91. Clear difference. We need someone who can give us 10-12 runs at 135-140 SR. Not someone who can barely bat. Not a fan of Patel but he has been the best among people who don't have holes in their bats. Bhuvi is next and is too old and going down. Hangar has not played after his first matches. Either he is injured or more crazy would be if he is dropped.
Yudhvir has played only 2 matches. He took wickets at 23 but got hit at over 9.2 runs/over. Which is not bad in this year's version I suppose but not great either. Vyshak has been total crap taking wickets at 29.33@10.35 runs/over. No need to reward crappy non-performers in domestics. They will turn out to be crappy, non-performers in the international game.
Among the next-gen, the real stars have been Yashasvi and NTTV. Gill too if you consider him as a youngster. Sundar has been crappy wrt taking wickets although he has kept the runs down.
Umesh could possibly give the ball a hike but he has bowled very badly in this year's IPL.

Yaduvir Charak, Umran Malik, Kuldeep Sen should be three pacers in Playing XI with Suyesh as spinner against WI

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
No, we should strictly play only players who are under 18 years old. These guys are too old. They have bowled and have been smashed around. We need players who have not played any FC cricket, any List-A cricket, or any T20 domestics. We should choose people who have never bit smashed around. Selection should only be based on paper talent and hype. Whoever is hyped the most in school cricket, U-19 cricket, etc. should be in the team. If they have played 1-2 matches, we can allow that. But, after a point, our bowlers inevitably lose confidence because they are hit hard. And, thus they should not be picked. Look at the reserves in the U-19 team. They are the ones who we should unleash in WI.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
There is no official rule to select team based on domestic, sometimes talent should be given priority on few matches, in 80s & 90s many players used to get picked based on skill as a result team won many tournaments surprising opposition. Yadhuvir Singh, Rinku Singh, Suyash Sharma all are ready product, even Yash Dull will be great no. 3 in test against WI. Domestic also have proven useless for certain players Pandey, Wasim Jaffer even Amol Mazumder played lots of domestic but haven't been successful in international arena

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Exactly. This is what I am saying. There is no official rule to select anyone based on performance. Absolutely, talent alone should be the basis of selection giving priority on few matches. There is no rule about few matches too. Hence, the fewer the matches the better it is. That is why nobody who has played in domestics should be considered and we should choose the 18 year olds and below. In the '80s and '90s, many players were picked based on randomness, quotas for the Mumbai lobby, etc. and that is why we were never near #1 and now we are consistently #1, winning more abroad, etc. This is not how it should be. The answer is to always to go back to sanatan dharma and bullock carts. That way there will be no pollution.Raju Bhai wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 1:08 pm There is no official rule to select team based on domestic, sometimes talent should be given priority on few matches, in 80s & 90s many players used to get picked based on skill as a result team won many tournaments surprising opposition. All the U-19 players are ready. Just call anyone and ask them.
I agree that there are people who were domestic stars have failed in internationals. There are always who performed better in internationals than in domestics. I could only find Ambati Rayudu whose international numbers were better but we need to drink a few strong drinks and then we will find all sorts of domestic failures who were international stars and won us many world cups, etc. Going for those drinks.
I fully agree that Amol Muzumder was an absolute failure. I am talking about the Mumbai guy and not my para's Majumdar Bangali-babu. This chap writes his lastname as Muzumdar. This Muzumder was a total failure in international cricket. He scored 0 runs and got 0 wickets, got 0 catches. What a failure. Just like Yudhvir, Rinku, Suyash all international failures by now since they performed about the same as Muzumdar in international cricket.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
But, Venkatesh Iyer is not bowling. He is being subbed out by KKR after he bats or is brought in as an impact player. Why? If he does not bowl in the IPL, he should not be considered as an allrounder. What about Vijay Shankar? Is he bowling? The problem with Dube was that he hardly got wickets and gave away over 10 runs/over. However, maybe, he has not been given a long run. I would rather want to see Hangar or someone young and promising. But, Hangar has gotten only two matches. I don't know if he is injured.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Thats not their fault. They have nothing to do if their "star" franchise captain doesnt consider them as an allrounder.IPL franchises & skippers are more interested in promoting foreign allrounders then grooming indian allrounders

Karun Nair replaces KL Rahul in LSG. 3 test against England, 320 runs with a triple ton, 3 test against Aussies 54 runs and then dropped. A career whose fortune was decided by just "3" test failure

BCCI's discipline measures are in dire state, individual has become greater then board and no harsh punishment exist.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
After about 11 matches, the impact players this season (Indian, at least 50% of matches played) are:
Axar, Piyush, Yashasvi, Siraj, Dhawan, Shami, R. Jadeja, Varun, Ashwin, Gill, Surya
Best keeper: Ishan Kishan
So: Dhawan, Yashasvi, Ishan, Gill, Surya, Axar, Jadeja, Ashwin, Piyush, Siraj, Shami
Dropping Varun because he cannot bat and has been marginally better with the ball than Ashwin.
Lacking: pace-bowling allrounders, good keeper bats - i.e., players not named Axar or Jadeja and who can do both batting and bowling or batting and keeping.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Time to think about national team and give Shami & Siraj rest for few IPL games
