Fair enough if Rahul can keep well, we play an extra bat or bowler as needed and lends more balance to the team.
Also, a message to Ishan Kishan, who to me looks all at sea against quality fast bowling….not sure Ishan is good enough to be selected as a pure batsman. The top order looks very fragile and would have cost us even today’s match but for that superb 6th wicket partnership.

Kishan and Suryakumar are looking shaky against good bowlers. The latter is clearly more suited to T20Is. He hasn't quite secured the middle-order slot for ODIs yet.

Shows once again the fallacy of selecting in one format on the basis of another.

Our batters by average are: Gill, Kohli, Rohit, Rahul, Kishan.

After 2019 & Covid break, India A team has played just 6 odis. BCCI seems have no interest in grooming talents for Odis. Last 3 years its all about improving IPL. Kishan & SKY should have been playing domestic instead of wasting time in the bench.

ICC will not create such wickets/conditions. They want flat pitches. Nevertheless, ideally we need both, average and SR. Five batsmen who average 40 with a SR of 90+. Rahul, Rohit, Kohli, Iyer, Gill, and Kishan are what we have along with Samson. We need to play the first five with IK the backup. IK should be groomed so that he can play in the MO too. Then, an allrounder. Then, five bowlers three of whom can bat. Hardik and Jadeja can be considered for #6 onwards but not in the first five.

Just checked the 2nd ODI score and saw we're being absolutely hammered. Probably the most one sided match ever (between the top nations)? Aussies scoring at 11-12 rpo.

ICC may create flat / batting friendly tracks for shorter format events but not in test cricket. Last WTC final India got folded out just for 170 in second innings with Southee, Boult exposing the conditions. This batting is fully fragile when it swings, they are struggling with swing in India its hard to expect from them in those conditions with Starc at full force followed by Cummins & Hazlehood. It should be official now, this team can't play left arm pacers when there is a bit of help around, they are just getting LBW's & bowled for fun. This is least expected when a class like Dravid is sitting there as Coach

Full marks to curator for creating tracks which is assisting pacers. These so called superstars can deliver only in flat tracks, neither they can handle spin nor seam & swing. Players like Venky Iyer was never given another opportunity whereas SKY/ Kishan getting picked in Odis & Test with no performance.

Plenty of hidden politics is going on to save certain careers by keeping faith in friendships and relationships. Only 6 India A odis has been arranged so far since 2019. Deodhar Trophy 50 over tournament has been scrapped. In reality, there is no scope for an upcomming players who can perform and challenge those stars sitting comfortably with the team by giving average or zero performances.

Gill has been phenomenal on flat-wickets and easy opponents. Which are the matches where Gill performed a boy on the burning deck role? That is, the % of runs scored by Gill is the maximum wrt the team's when at least 7 wickets have fallen (i.e., not a total flat batting track) in LOIs. No such qualification is perhaps needed for tests. I think his T20I 100 may be the best lone warrior role. He is a phenomenal player and since we will play on a lot of flat tracks and in India and perhaps against weak opponents, he is a crucial player.

It is official. But, they can't play right arm pacers either when there is a bit of help. There is no real difference between India playing right arm pacers any better when the bowler is of the same quality. Starc is the best bowler in ODIs in the Aussie team. Dravid can't do much when the stars play very few domestics. And, BCCI does not allow Indian players to play leagues outside India by and large with exceptions like Arshdeep playing for Kent, etc. BCCI should actually help its players not in the national team to land deals outside India.

True ICC will not create a flat pitch in England for the WTC Final. Even if it is a flat pitch, the air/weather conditions cannot be changed. And, in five days, it makes no sense to create a low quality pitch as in Ahmedabad. The ICC does not want a total draw. In England, at that time perhaps, it is hard to get no swing. And, there will be no spin.

I think very few stars from India played county cricket regularly. All played either one or two season or after getting dropped from the team but yes stars of 90s played domestic regularly even after the introduction of IPL. Now days forget stars, even newcommers to the indian team are not interested to play domestic, they love to spent time in bench then spending time in FC matches. This new batch of Gill & co. doesnt like to spend time in the middle and respect opposition all want to play like England model

They can't even play the England model in T20Is except for SkAY.
