Yet another week and again Tanisha Kashyap goes on to qualify winning 3 matches in Tunisia W15 and than won the first round against wild card player. Last 3 week she has won a round each in main draw, in 2 of those coming thru qualifying and in 1 thru main draw wild card. Good consistency by her, she runs into third seeded Japanese though next.

Good results from Tanisha. She is also in the doubles QF.

Btw, something noteworthy, since this doesn’t happen often. Our Karan Singh got to play against former top-30 Mischa Zverev, who for God knows why, at the M15 tournament in Monastir,Tunisia, and lost 7-6 6-0 in the second round. Interestingly, for whatever reason it be, I appreciate that he’s still trying to play some matches even at the lowest level of a pro tournament, while we have players like Riya Bhatia (who has now receded to 700s), Sahaja who never play in these W15 tournaments.

^^^^^The economic realities are quite different between someone like Mischa Zverev (or even more generally other players from developed economies) and some of our players that you name above. It is likely also harder for girls to travel to remote places unless they also have a parent or someone else travel with them so the logistics are also a factor (for example, if the parent has a job that doesn't have the freedom to travel). That said, they should definitely take advantage of tournaments in India which are more affordable and have easier logistics for Indians.

^^ I Think Dinesh was talking about those two not playing the Indian W15s. Unless there was some illness/injury, they had no business not playing these three W15s. Of course, traveling abroad is a different matter.

My reasoning to bring up Riya Bhatia is because she was the only WTA player from India to have traveled to random South American tournaments in the last couple of years. She played in 7 different countries last year (Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Korea, Thailand, USA, Portugal). She again played in Portugal a few weeks ago, failing in qualification rounds, whilst currently missing all 3 W15 tournaments in India. I doubt she has issues with gathering funds for traveling considering this trend of hers to play overseas often. Sahaja is a mystery to some of us when it comes to her absence at the W15 home tournaments.

Edit: Thanks, Jay. That’s exactly what I meant.

Tanisha Kashyap qualified in for the umpteenth time at the Monastir W15, but Sravya who was a wildcard into the qualies lost inn the FQR today. Meanwhile, Jennifer who was the 7th seed in the main draw, lost promptly in the R1, 16 46 to Corley Paris (FRA,939) - her third R1 upset in a row at Monastir.

And Tanisha has now got into WTA rankings at 1294 with 3 points. Will move up further up next week with 1 more points earned last week. Ranking earned the hard way by Tanisha.

Few of our players are playing in M15 in Kish Island in Iran this week.

3 of them were in the main draw and 21 year old Kabir Hans had a nice win over fellow Indian 6th seed SD Prajwal Dev in straight sets. First ATP point for Kabir. But, in the second round Kabir lost against an Italian player.

But, Ishaque Eqbal (IND,1045) beat Kiyan Santino Kasemi (GER,1857) 61 61 in first round and than upset 5th seeded Marco Miceli (ITA,709) 63 64 in second round.

In QF Ishaque beat MAXENCE Broville (FRA,988) in QF. Broville upset the second seed in first round.

Ishaque hasn’t beaten Broville yet, but we will certainly take it. :D SDPD/Sai Karteek are in the doubles SF.

By the way, I am really up on Hans Kabir. Well, I really get "up" on a lot of younger players these days, as I look for a spark (any spark) in players. Badly want somebody or other to come through... Hans was a good junior player who came along only late in his junior years. Because of Covid and everything, it seems like he couldn't get going in the senior tour either. He got a break this week, and played well in the qualies and then in the first round upset too. Hope it is the beginning of something good from Hans. Or maybe he will disappoint me too, like all these players are doing lately.

Karan Singh is losing on a weekly basis, getting nowhere. Jennifer has made an art form of getting upset in the first round by unseeded players every week too. Tanisha is probably injured(?)... Sahaja, Vaidehi, Zeel etc flatter to deceive. There is no end to this.

No. He lost 46 16 against Broville. SDPD/Sai Karteek also lost in doubles SF.

All of them will be there next week as well in Iran.

SDPD has reached the semifinals this week at the M15 Kish Island (I love the name of this island :D ) Futures in Iran.

R1 (5) SD Prajwal Dev (726) 6-1 6-2 Ivan Kazakov (RUS, NR)
R2 (5) SD Prajwal Dev (726) 6-1 6-2 Alexander Chepik (RUS, 1504)
QF (5) SD Prajwal Dev (726) 7-6 4-6 6-3 Filip Apltauer (CZE, NR)
SF (5) SD Prajwal Dev (726) versus (6) Hazem Naw (SYR,775)

Hazem reached the finals last week at the same venue. Hope SDPD wins. :goodluck:

Good run by SD Prajwal Dev in Kish Island 2 this week.
He was also top-seed in doubles, but lost in the QF (R2), as did 2 other Indian pairs.

Last week, Ishaque Eqbal made the QF in Kish Island, but he lost badly in R1 of singles this week.
