Anirban also drops from #63 to #71 to agonizingly miss the next round of the Fedex cup playoffs to which the top 70 advance. Sahith improves from #39 to #27 and has a chance to make the season ending championship to which the top 30 advance after the next event in the Fedex cup playoffs.

Re: US PGA Tour 2021-22
Looks like 2 withdrawals as Cameroon Smith also pulls out.
However, the rules don’t permit replacement.
So they will play with 68 in the field.
That’s horrible as in most events Anirban would have got in on first withdrawal.
Not here and so a great season mid year now finishes as a ok to good season. Playing this week would have given a chance to move up to Top 30 and all the playing privileges it brings.
Missing few weeks in June/July cost him dear…
So onto 2022-23 season for Anirban now.

Sahith Theegala has a solid final day at the BMW tournament and qualifies for the tour finals at #28 overall in the FedEx Cup standings. Looking for a strong finish to a great rookie year on the PGA tour…

Re: US PGA Tour 2021-22
some new changes on PGA tour to counter
https://sports.yahoo.com/pga-tours-radi ... 06583.html
ATP should do this
For the first time, the Tour will offer guaranteed financial stability to all of its members, with a “league minimum” of $500,000 per player. Players must compete in 15 events, and winnings at those events will be “deducted” from the $500,000 that players will receive at the beginning of the season. The Tour will also offer travel stipends for players ranked below 125th, offering $5,000 for every missed cut.

Re: US PGA Tour 2021-22
Some news reports appear to indicate that Anirban Lahiri is signing up for the LIV tour and its larger guaranteed purses. Not sure if he also getting a large signing bonus which some of the big names have gotten.

Re: US PGA Tour 2021-22
I assume it is not easy for them. The ATP tour is a much smaller thing compared to the PGA tour. About 1/8th in size. I think the total prize money on the PGA tour is over $1.5 billion a year, but ATP tour gives out just under $200M total... Looking at it that way, all that ATP can guarantee in the same way is probably about $60K and not $500K a year. But then, maybe even $60K would really help a lot of players.

Re: US PGA Tour 2021-22
US Open alone is 60m so tennis overall including the majors is well above 200m. That said, the PGA tour is higher but not by that much. It is $428M for 2022-23 season (over 47 tournaments) so very comparable.
Not sure where you got the 1.5B number from, that would be insane for the viewership the sport gets.

Re: US PGA Tour 2021-22
^^^ I got the $1.5B from here - PGA Tour: Tournament Prize Money Payout List For 2022 .... yeah, it is insane prize money in Golf.
I added up the ATP prize money from the list here - ATP and WTA Prize Money 2022
But US Open was left as TBD there, and I only noticed that now. Good catch! So it is around $255 million total. Not $195M that I thought it was. But basically the grand slams add up to 2/3rd of it.
Still ATP tour gives only about 1/6th of what the PGA tour does. So I will increase the possible "guarantee payment" from $60K to probably $85K or so. But yeah, I would be very happy if ATP gave that much for a lot of struggling players below top-150 or so.
But the financial details may be different between the PGA tour and ATP. I don't think ATP has control of even $50M out of the tournament purses. Mostly that is from sponsorship the tournaments have. Wimbledon, for instance, might not give much of a damn to what ATP says and would do what they want (like they have, on many occasions!). PGA on the other hand may have a lot more money reserves than ATP and thus more control of the tournaments. I am certainly no expert in those details. Can look up turnover numbers and tax returns of the PGA and ATP (or revenue numbers of ATP and PGA that they pay tax on). I thought I saw that it was also in the same 1/6 or 1/10th range for ATP compared to PGA. Those comparisons are more complicated, as you need to look at assets and expenses to make a judgment.

I am certain that the betting site is wrong and PGA tour's total prize money is between 400 and 500m. Most tournaments are around 10m total prize money.
