They did not measure, but his reaction and the commentary seemed to imply that it would have been over 8m (i.e. a better tiebreaking second best jump in comparison the winner's 7.98). Considering how close Sreeshankar was to a perfect takeoff point in that jump, he got a couple inches advantage right off the bat (if it had been legal).

Read in the press that Sreeshankar thought his foul jump was at least 8.10. It would have been enough for gold. Good to see his progress and he should be one of our best athletics hopes over the next few years.

Yes, what a win by Sakshi. Came to know before the bout that the Canadian was current under 23 world champion. So, did not think Saskhi would be able to beat such young talent and then she was down 0-4 at half way mark with Canadian looking stronger but all of a sudden Sakshi had a superb takdown of Canadian and then turned her around to pin her.

Gold #8 for us.

And Deepak takes care of the Pakistani for another Gold!! #9, and we move up to the 5th spot in the medal rankings.

I didn't see the bout, but since it was a Pakistani, I assume they are whining about something. It was a 3-0 win, but Pakistan probably has lodged a complaint that Deepak used Indian Oil to make himself slippery, or that he said "Balakot, Balakot" to distract the Pakistani :)

Superb wrestlers. Looks like this could become our greatest ever single day total in terms of CWG medals? Pakistan guy looked a bit unfit.

I am impressed with our young table tennis player Akula's comeback win from 2-3 games down to 4-3. She beat a player who was ranked World number 21 in 2018 and is currently ranked 52. Akula is currently ranked 72.

Update: Sreeshankar foul explained:

Yes, Akula had similar comeback in her earlier round match in the morning. Now, She is in the semi final which looked unlikely.

On the other hand, Manika Batra is 2 games down against a player from Singapore. Manika seems to have horrible CWG. She lost 2 matches in upset loss in team event against Malaysia and earlier in the also lost mixed doubles QF along with Sathian where they were the top seeds.

Women's hockey team lost to Australia 0-3 on penalty shootout after a 1-1 tie in regulation. Disappointing result but decent performance!

So, today went mostly on expected lines.

3/4 wrestling golds and almost beat Australia in the women's hockey.

Hima failed as expected.

3 more wrestling golds to be had tomorrow - Ravi, Vinesh and new guy Naveen. Another para final in TT.

Hockey semifinals for the men, and all the boxing semis. QFs in badminton and TT.

Some of the most disappointing performances came from athletes who were making the most noise before the games - Lovlina and Manika Batra. Looks like they were more distracted by outside stuff rather than focussing on their preparation. I think in future, our sports administration should not put up with these star athletes' unreasonable demands, so they don't end up impacting other athletes performance as well.

9 golds, 8 silvers and 9 bronze medals for a total of 26 medals now and we have jumped to 5th place. Canada with 19 golds and New Zeland with 17 golds are way ahead right now. Does not look like we can go ahead of them.
