By the way, Hirwani had an average of over 57 in 1989 and 1990 in 10 test matches! Once Kumble arrived, it was much more difficult for his comeback.

WV Raman also had sizeable opportunities, but he was clearly lacking technique to play in top order.

Sharath was probably more a contemporary of Rahul Dravid with a FC average of51 runs and they played u25 together, but Dravid was at a different class.

Hirwani had a great start to his test career. I thing it was that era where we had some decent spinners in form of Maninder Singh, Arsad Ayub, Hirwani and Shastri as an allrounder spinner

Padmakar Shivalkar, Rajinder Goel, Utpal Chatterjee might be the unluckiest spinners in indian cricket history.

Sarfaraz has one more century! He needs to be part of the Indian test team , if not the playing 11.

MP may pull a stunner as they dismiss Mumbai for 374. MP is 123 for 1 wicket. Can they pull a huge upset.

And MP is wellon their way to first innings lead. Just 6 runs behind with 7 wickets in hand.

Mumbai needs a miracle to pull this off.

Plenty of notable performances has happened this season. BCCI needs to bring back Duleep Trophy & Deodhar Trophy to get India A probables, keeping in mind the upcomming vital games of WTC and the 50 over WC scheduled next year

Sanjay Bangar & Ritender Singh Sodhi Sodhi was just average. Cool head but average bowler and batsman

Arun Lal had almost single handedly won Bengal the Ranji Trophy in 1989-90 based on his mathematical ability to calculate quotients. This gave rise to a famous slogan- lal bangla lal e lal arun lal arun lal. That year a 17 year made his debut in first class cricket who later achieved a lot in cricket and was part of many controversies. That year the captain was not Arun Lal but Bengal's wicketkeeper who 6 years ago became a selector and pushed for the inclusion of this grown up 17 year old in the test team. This was met with a lot of criticism but what was to follow at Lord's later that summer gave birth to a Prince.

Bengal had good fast bowling attack in form of Dattatreya Mukherjee and Rajiv Seth with Delhi team reeling at 90/5 with all big names in form of Raman Lamba, Manoj Prabhakar and Ajay Sharma back to the dressing room in seam friendly condition of Eden Garden.Spinners, Saradindu and the legend Utpal also had good game.Kirti Azad lead the fight with his innings of 93 but the rain spoilt what could have been a great final

Hirwani and Ajantha Mendis got worked out. And not really groomed by the coaching staff and given opportunities to fix their stuff after they were worked out.

Pujara another ton for Sussex, this time he is leading the County Side, toying with club standard bowlers except Umesh

Great debut for Washington Sundar in Lancashire with 4/69

Navdeep Saini picked 3/59 for Kent, but as usual going for @5 over, no sign of improvement
