Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Sumit went 1-5 down in the first set before starting his comeback. Was too late to salvage the first set. But, has now won 9 of next 12 games. Hopefully, this resurgence will continue in third set.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Resurgence continued for next 2 games as he went up 2-0 in third set. But, he has now lost the next 3 games to go 2-3 down in third set. Strange up and down match this is for Sumit.

And he lost.
ATP 250 Cordoba Open ( Clay)
[Q1] Sumit Nagal (IND,144) l. Facundo Diaz Acosta (ARG,400) 46 62 36
Sumit won 1 out of first 6 games, then won 11 out of next 14 only to lose 5 out of next 6 games. Strange match and disappointing loss.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Sumit hasn't been playing well for sometime, so not a big surprise. The slower court should favor his game but most players playing here are also clay court specialists, so he has to be playing well to win.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Covid has definitely been a massive setback to Indian tennis. Nobody is winning much, apart from Ankita's golden run at Melbourne 4 (Phillip Island Trophy) in doubles especially, but also one breakthrough singles win.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Sumit faces a tough match-up in the qualifying at Argentina.
At Buenos Aires, ATP 250
[Q1] Sumit Nagal (IND,148) vs. (3) Daniel Elahi Galan (COL,116)
Sumit was the highest ranked player outside the seeds in qualies and he gets a seeded South American in very first match. Galan reached third round of French open last year. So, this will be tough match for Sumit.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Galan withdrew at the last moment and Sumit got to play a much lower ranked Spaniard but had to fight all the way to win in an 3 hours 8 mins match.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Maybe a cramp or something after a long match? Or did it look like serious trouble?

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
In the beginning of final set he was applying ice on his left leg. If see the end of match (on ITD's insta page) , he had both his hands on his knees after final point. That happened a few times in the final set. I didn't notice any major limping but definitely something was bothering him. Hopefully it was just a cramp ( if at all) and he will be fit for final qualifying match.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
2 more rounds of qualies still to be played, Vishal.
I watched first set and then only the third set tiebreak. I did not notice anything major in that third set tie break which hampered his movements. He did have hands on knees after the match. I thought it was more due to exhaustion after playing such a long match.
