There were many attempted yorkers, but Hardik's footwork (moving deep into the crease, or far to the offside) negated those attempts. Just an utterly brilliant assault on the bowling. But of course it proved too little too late for his side in the end.
Good job by Sanju Samson yesterday against the best bowling attack in the IPL. Without his support, I doubt Stokes would have made the century and won the match for his side. It's interesting that Stokes isn't bowling: is it an injury issue like Hardik's, or just the captain's choice??
The stands are completely empty apart from a few flag-waving supporters in and near the pavilion. Yet the TV sound makes it seem that there is a huge audience making the normal din of a huge crowd. Is this simulated sound, or is it created by having mikes situated around the areas where the small crowd is situated?
MLB has used canned sounds to create audience sounds and cutouts in the stands which actually, I must admit, make it look interesting and good. I suppose IPL is also using canned sounds in the broadcasts.
Terrific innings from Wriddhiman today, just to prove he can do it in LoIs, not just tests! He has (marginally) outscored his skipper (and opening partner) David Warner: the latter finished on 66 off 34 balls, Wriddhiman was on 68 after 34 balls.

True The guy is totally rotund. He still managed to take a rather good catch yesterday. But his fielding has always been poor, and now he is ridiculously unfit too. prasen9 has always been a fan of his based on the fact that he played one good innings and several short unbeaten ones for India against NZ many moons ago, and so has an inflated average. Stats aren't everything...
But process is. If he was unfit, do not choose him. If you choose him, give him a fair run. I suppose the original sin was one of choosing him. I do not mind him not being chosen in the national team at this point given that we have a number of others who we have given a few chances and not a fair run. See Sampson, etc.

Earlier Gaikwad sent a strong message on being sidelined in earlier matches,pushed his case for folks who are drooling on Gill and Padikkal, this guy is equally good.
Shubman is not a T20 player (at this point) but he is obviously very good. Needs to be given an extended run in the longer formats. All the "drooling" he gets is deserved.
In ODIs, we have Dhawan, Rohit, Kohli, Rahul, Iyer, Jadeja, Hardik. There is perhaps one place if have Jadeja and Hardik bowling their full quota. Difficult to fit someone in unless we want to say that the ODIs against Australia do not matter. Let us build for the future. Then, we can drop Dhawan and Rohit.
Given these, Mayank and Prithvi are perhaps a bit ahead of Gill for the ODI opening slots. Prithvi and Pant are fast batters and can perhaps get a lower order slot too. Manish is slow-ish but has been preferred to Pant.
Rituraj Gaikwad should have got more chances with CSK earlier in the season, given his great domestic season. Dhoni's remark that he saw "no spark" in the younger players was extraordinarily insensitive, bordering on stupid for a captain. Apart from his own woeful batting form (and Raina's absence), Dhoni really doesn't have too many others to blame for CSK's slump this year.
So, it seems Mumbai Indians thru and CSK out is the only certain thing as far as playoffs are concerned. Other 6 teams are still in race for 3 other playoff spots.
