Also passive in his return games, just slicing and slicing all the time. Why he does not realise that he is not going to win too many against these level players with this game.
Exactly what I noticed , and wrote earlier that he appeared listless , that is why did not read much in his R1 win as it was match between players looking to break a losing streak, also will be playing only in Marbella next , and last 2 remaining Challengers of the season in Europe will be skipping them.

Terrific win for Prajnesh yesterday against a former top-50 player who is actually very good on faster surfaces -- the two ATP finals he has previously made were on grass and indoor carpet, and of course he was the defending champion in this tournament. I hope PG can keep it up and go all the way to the title here.

Nope. Somdev beat Lasko at the 2013 US Open in 5 sets. I was there in person watching the match.

Prajnesh plays A German today.

At At Isanming Challenger 80

[QF] (7) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,152) vs. (Q) Daniel Masur (GER,256)

Masur has had a few good wins in recent past. But, hope Prajnesh gets thru against him.

Daniel Masur is one of the consistent players I have seen on the Challenger tour in the last couple of years from Germany. He is good friends with Sumit Nagal. This will be an interesting battle and I hope Prajnesh comes on top! :goodluck:

PG has a nice path to win this if he can get past Masur. If he does, his next is Zandschup in the SF and Husler/likely Hoang. All winnable matches.

Rooting for him, he seems to be in form, esp his serving game.

Wally is from Australia, I see that Daniel Masur is from Germany. So unlikely to be related.

A tough battle is going on ... Prajnesh missed 3 match points in the second set tie break at 6-5, 8-7 and 9-8 ... At 9-8 he was a min-break up but lost next 2 points on his serve and Masur won point on his serve to make it 1 set all.

[QF] (7) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,152) vs. (Q) Daniel Masur (GER,256) 75 67(9)

PG wins!

Tough 3 setter with 3 match points that PG could not convert.

Way forward is easier I think.

Nothing gets easier. The Dutchman, whom PG is facing in the SF, served well on his shellacking victory over Ramk.
The Swiss Huesler, on the other half of the draw just beat Seb Korda in straight sets. But, I am hoping it will be Maximilian Marterer who will proceed to the final round. Prajnesh has to keep up with his big serves and an overall consistent game. :goodluck:
