I am trying to find who the consistent big hitters are. We need a few of these. The bread and butter singles taking guys we can have quite a few.

Based on the matches thus far:

Samson 29/180, Mayank 48/159, Hardik 34/159, Tripathi 40/157, Jadeja 25/155, Surya 36/153, Prithvi 33/151, Tewatia 29/150

are the ones above 150. Given the short Sharjah ground and that this is half a domestic tournament, 150 should be the bar. The low average folks are the ones that are not that consistent. Jadeja, Tewatia, and Samson.

I would be comfortable opening with Mayank and Prithvi. Throw Rohit into the mix. Maybe Samson if he is keeping. He can be explosive but is inconsistent. Jadeja is very inconsistent with the bat. Getting him in as the #7 or #8 is fine. But the problem with both Hardik and Jadeja is that they do not deserve a spot as a specialist bat and their bowling is largely of the constraining type. We need some wicket-takers. It would be good to have a quality leg-spinner who can bat.

prasen, this is my first choice top 7 (and I 100% agree we can only have one tuk-tuk starter and that for now by default is Virat)

Shaw
Kohli
Iyer
WK: Samson or KL or Pant
Hardik
middle order consolidator if necessary : Mayank or KL
Jadeja

Agree about Jadeja but unfortunately Sundar is the same. Tewatia is a legside hacker and I do not see him replicating his success.

Tewatia and Tripathi, if they keep their consistency and SR, should be players for the A-team. I pretty much agree with your team.

I am not sure if Virat is a modern day T20 bat. I would prefer Rohit there. That will also elongate his test career and ODI career. Rest him in T20Is because he is not much better value than his replacement.

Rahane, around 4000 runs in IPL,S/R of around 130, but sitting outside because of DC strength. Wish he could play for another team.

Can they give him to CSK? During the trading window starting Oct 13

What will DC get in return? Does CSK have any assets that DC may want? Or is it simply a salary dump? Should DC keep the reserve for covering the case where they get an injury?

DC should throw both Dhawan and Rahane if the intent is to keep modernizing their team and do what the Indian selectors aren't able to.

With Pant injured, these 2 guys lost them another match.

Pre-2015 cricket remnants like Dhawan, Rahane are not going to win you tournaments.

So, has everyone suddenly given up on Rohit Sharma? In reality, there's no chance he'll be dropped. A realistic squad would be: Shaw, Rohit, Mayank, Kohli, Iyer, Rahul (wk), Pant (2nd wk, not in initial XI), Hardik (especially if he is able to bowl), Jadeja, Shami, Bumrah, Chahal, Axar, Bhuvi (if fit).
Since the world T20 is in Australia, we need good pacers. This year's IPL hasn't been too good for Indian pacers. Kartick Tyagi looks promising. Saini has been disappointing. Injury-prone Bhuvi needs an understudy, but Shivam Mavi seems too raw.

RCB v KKR, every batsman has struggled to time the ball on the Sharjah deck including Kohli.
Only the genius of AB is showing up , AB truly a special talent , pity that he left too early from international scene, Hope he makes a come back

As there are more and more games, the one-innings flukes are disappearing.

The leaders are (by SR, qual:25 average): Samson 29/164, Mayank 48/159, Jadeja 25/155, Surya 39/155, Hardik 27/155, Tewatia 38/152, Prithvi 29/151, Kishan 37/144.

So, Surya, Tewatia and Kishan are the newbies. They should be given some A-team games.

Pant is very good in the IPL but has not yet figured out how to play in T20Is. I would not mind giving Samson a go and checking him out. If he does not pan out, I'd go back to Rahul as the keeper-bat.

Bhuvi, Chahar and Bumrah have been the most economical but Bhuvi and Chahar have not taken wickets as much. Natarajan has been the next most economical bowler. Sundar and Axar have been very economical too.

One radical option I think is to send all your batsmen sorted by your SRs. CSK should have opened with Curran and Jadeja! Now, Jadeja was underutilized. And, CSK lost some valuable runs. While useless junk like Rayudu and Watson wasted a whole lot of balls.

Tewatia is a very useful allrounder. His legspin bowling is more than handy too. I just think that, for Australia, we need 3 credible pacers, plus Hardik. And no more than one specialist spinner.

Very disappointing stuff from Tewatia today. 14 off 18 and that too when the required rate was 8 an over when he got in. Shaw and Axar also disappointed. Samson was kind of ok, but failed to carry his team across the line.

Overall, our medium pacers (except for Bumrah) have been really disappointing, and not much talent even otherwise. On batting side, only Mayank and Suryakumar Yadav have been consistently good (mostly). Iyer has been slow (except for 1 game) and Shaw has been very inconsistent. Rahul has been so slow that his team lost multiple times now. We can take Samson as our wicketkeeper, but would definitely not pick Rahul, we don't want to lose games because of him. I am not sure who the backup WK should be, maybe Ishan Kishan, if he keep decently.

My 15 would be Rohit, Mayanak, Prithvi (backup), Kohli, SuryaKumar Yadav, Samson, Ishan (backup), Hardik, Jadeja, Ashwin(backup), Deepak Chahar, Rahul Chahar, Saini, Natarajan (backup), Bumrah. Our bowling is not at all inspiring, except for Bumrah. If you compare to Dhoni's team, he had Zaheer, Munaf, Irfan, Nehra, Sreesanth, Harbhajan and Yuvraj (not everyone at the same time though).

Well, we'll let the IPL play out. It is only 14 games but gives some idea. People who started well such as Samson and Prithvi were fading ... Etc. Let us see. So the batting leaderboard after the latest games (by SR, qual avg. 25):

Jadeja 31.5/168, Samson 28.37/161, Mayank 48/159, Surya 39/155, Hardik 27/155, Prithvi 25/150, Ishan 37/144, Tewatia 41/143.

A-team worthy (the next 2): Dube, Tripathi.
