Using a cut-off of 140 runs, and 140 SR:

Rahul 76/142, Mayank 54/163, Rohit 35/146, Iyer 45/144, Surya Yadav 36/153, Samson 34/192.

Relaxing the cut-off of 140 runs (for lower order players):
Lower-order Hardik 34/159, Jadeja 31/159.

That is a decent team that selects itself.

If you listen to Fleming; he mentioned everyone in the 11; and said Bravo and Sam doing their roles; Faf is gun and Watson is back to some rhythm , Jadeja is always useful. Two Indian pacers doing well Thakur and Chahar.

But on Kedar or Dhoni didn't utter a word.

Infact Thakur should be up the order above these 2 guys and he surely can give the ball a tonk

Why is KXIP playing three keepers today? They could have got in some all rounders

Probably Simran Singh can bat, not seen much of him before.

CSK and KKR are being bizarrely led -- but particularly CSK. Dhoni and Jadhav are terrible, particularly the latter. Jadeja didn't bowl in one match, but he has been batting well enough to deserve a place in the side. That Dwayne Bravo hasn't batted in the last two losing efforts (while Dhoni and Jadhav occupy the crease and do little else) is an almighty travesty.

Glenn Maxwell is a complete failure with the bat in this IPL. And Rashid Khan remains unplayable!

I have come around to think that in today's game strike rate has become more important as we have more and more bowlers capable of hitting out and scoring 10-12 runs quickly.

Here are the leaders wrt SR (qual: average 25):

Samson 34/192
Tripathi 67/175
Mayank 47/162
Jadeja 31/159
Hardik 34/158
Tewatia 27/158
Surya 36/153
Rana 28/149

This will, of course, change. We need to focus on the big hitters because the old style of batting will not work anymore as we see by Dhonism not really working.

How can you have Rahul, Mayank, Maxwell, Puran, and still struggle with the bat and win only one game? I suppose it is small sample size. Throw in Mandeep Singh for good measure.

Because when you have Rahul as a captain (understudy of Kohli), who thinks he is Kohli with the bat, (clearly not), the results are there to be seen and Kumble too as a coach is not aiding the cause

Clearly this was Rahul's fault; you would never expect this from Kohli. On this evidence, I would never include him in the Indian team.

I would select Mayank over Rahul to partner Rohit at the top.

Its just the mindset and Rahul has become negative with Kumble; hope he does not bring to the table when he plays for India.

There is some degree of padding of stats going on under Kumble.

I think this should kill the argument that Kohli shouldn't have forced Kumble out. Not that Virat is a good captain but Kumble isn't a good coach either.

Ponting actually is the one showing his credentials with Delhi building a strong Indian core which finished 3rd last time and have improved again.

Not super clear what India's best xi in T20I should be.

Shaw is my first choice as opener at this point. Only guy constantly playing for the team and not eating up balls selfishly but whom should he open with?

Virat seems to be finally coming back in form so does he open? #3?

Iyer is certainty at either 3 or 4. As is Hardik at 6 or 7. I don't like it but arguably so is Jadeja at 7 or 8.

Leaves a wicketkeeper (Pant or Samson or even KL?) and at least one and likely 2 other batsmen.

Virat Kohli ran 50 of his 90 runs. I can't think of any other batsman who would do this or see the need to do this in a T20.

KXIP has lost a lot of matches by the narrowest margins -- 2 runs, 1 run, tie (and losing it in the super over), etc. A team that has been largely batting well, but still contriving to lose most of their matches.
