Now the Mar 26th match against Qatar is postponed, due to Coronavirus issues. FIFA decision, it seems?

Meanwhile, Stimac is pretty upset at the situation with ISL, with no Indians getting a chance as a striker except Chhetri.

‘Stop wasting money on foreign players’
We will never find replacement for Chhetri while the situation is like this. Where am I going to find a striker? We didn’t open the (attacking) positions for Indian youngsters in Indian Super League (ISL) or I-League. Where are they going to play? If you consider that India with 1.5 billion people have a top tier of 10 clubs, of which 60% are foreigners. Which means there are only 40 players with Indian passports, and out of these, 20 are fullbacks and 10 are defensive midfielders. Now out of this you have to make one Picasso picture!
You go coach! More power to you!

We need to put a restriction that at least one Indian striker has to be on the field for each team. And, if a team games it by naming an Indian as a striker but effectively that person moving the person to midfield or back that team will be heavily fined.

In the middle of this Covid mess yesterday former Bengal cricket captain Chuni Goswami passed away. He also played football and along with PK Banerjee, Jarnail Singh, Tulsidas Balaram, Yusuf Khan, Peter Thangaraj and Arun Ghosh formed India's dream team that won the 1962 Asian Games gold and the 1964 Asian Cup silver. He also played a little bit of tennis. In fact, I have seen play tennis at the South Club with Jaidip Mukerjea. Goswami played for Mohun Bagan. He could have got a chance to play for Tottenhum Hotspur but never went.
In another news another formal Indian player Shanto Mitra who played for East Bengal passed away as well.

He was part of the team that beat China in the Melbourne Olympics. I think he captained India too. Apart from tennis, he was part of the Bengal cricket team as an all-rounder, played first class cricket and was part of the team that made two Ranji finals and captained in at least one which lost to a Mumbai team that had Gavaskar and Shivalkar. He took 8 wickets against a WI touring team as part of the Central-Eastern combined team. All this from Wikipedia. He was before my time. I read about him but do not remember the details. I remember the impression: Phenomenal all-round sportsman.

BTW, PK Banerjee passed away this year too :-(

Yes he was captain of India for the 1962 Asian Games and 1964 Asian Cup. In 1956 India had beaten Australia 4-2. Goswami was not part of that team though PK and Peter Thangaraj were. During that Australia trip India had beaten Australia 7-1 in a friendly. In 1962 PK played under him though in 1964 PK I think had already retired. Both in 62 and 64 India beat South Korea who are a world power today. Shows how strong those teams were.

Actually, South Korea and China were not good teams then. In '56, we qualified for the semi-finals of the Olympics, our best show. The issue, of course, was very few teams actually played well then. Then, the rest of the world improved and we did not :-(

South Korea even then was a regional powerhouse. They won the 1956 and 1960 Asian Cup and won silver at the Asian Games in 1954, 58 and 62.

That is true. But, in 1952 and 1956, there were only 4 teams who played the Asian Cup. And, India did not. In '51 and '62 Asiads, we beat them. They placed ahead in 'the '58 Asiad. South Korea's ELO ratings high was in around 2002 for a ranking of 17th. Their best ranking was around 15th in 1948 and 1953. Elo Ratings which seemed to suggest that the competition was not great then as it is now. But, I suppose, if you are #15th in the world, you can call it a "powerhouse", certainly a regional powerhouse.

Thank you for that video! ... So nice to see that team which was one of our topnotch teams - with IM Vijayan, Bhaichung Bhutia, Raman Vijayan, and Bruno Coutinho. That second goal by Bruno was such a powerful shot. Whoa. But Bhutia annd IM Vijayan wasted so many chances. We could've beaten Philippines 5-0.

I guess the poll has gone viral in Iran. Votes for their clubs coming in bushels. I voted for Kochi Blasters, of course :)
