My vote is for Sumit Nagal, based on battling on clay, tenacity, all-roundness of his game, and movement up the ranking. I'm not sure how one votes!

2009 Somdev won it. Don't think it was run while I was taking a sabbatical from the site.

Ankita maybe well behind Praj and Sumit if one goes by looking just at the spike in ranking, big wins etc. However, if you look at the resources a player had in hand and what they achieved with those, Ankita's achievements stand taller compared to the ones of her male counterparts.

I'm so glad that we have given 3 votes to Ankita. The only other players getting votes are Sumit (the clear leader at this point) and Prajnesh. Lovely that Ankita Raina is at least the bronze medalist in our Player of the Year stakes for 2019. Bhushan-ji would have admired Ankita's pluck too.
