Is Sindhu still in the Forbes top-10 list of top-earning female athletes in the world?

Sindhu is at #13 this year, tied with Madison Keys. Top 11 are all tennis players, followed by Alex Morgan (Football), Sindhu (Badminton), Keys, and Ariya Jutanugarn (Golf).

You have to be kidding amount the prize money. Prize money in badminton is pretty small. Most of her income is in endorsements. A medal (hopefully a gold) will likely see a surge in her endorsement money next year. I suspect her earnings this year will be similar to last year as she is already seen as someone who competes and wins at the top level in badminton.

Oh, I didn't mean the prize money.... I meant the money & gifts that were announced by all the Govt., political, industrial, movie big shots- after she won the world championship! By last count, it was close to 2 Million USD!! may be more. Well worth every penny of it, to hear the national anthem on a world stage of sports....!!

In BWF world tour finals, defending champion PV Sindhu lost her first 2 matches at group stage - against world #4 Yamaguchi 21-18 18-21 8-21 and today against world #2 Chen Yufei 22-20 16-21 12-21.

With that her title defence has ended. It is getting a bit worrying for Sindhu now. She took the first game against both the players but got completely outplayed in third game. Other that world championships title, it has been a washout year for Sindhu in other torunaments. Needs some confidence boosting wins early next year to get back into frame for Tokyo.

Running out of steam? Fitness?

I do not think it is a fitness issue as in the past we have not seen Sindhu run out of steam in 3 game matches. Anyway, She beat 7th ranked He Jiao Bing 21-19 21-19 but it was too late as she had already lost 2 matches. Only if she had pulled out of 1 of the 2 matches she lost she would have been in the semi final. First one against Yamaguchi she lead 11-6 in second game after winning the first game but let it sleep.

Top 4 ranked players actually made the SF. So, looks like here Sindhu played to her ranking of #6 here and not at a higher level as she usually does in bigger events.
