If it is a shoulder, it is always a serious concern in tennis, however mild it may be. He should take as much rest (and more) as needed. If not careful, the problem will never go away. If serious and any sort of surgery or anything is needed, one should listen to the doctors and go with it. The idea that you can wait for it to go away (if the doc says otherwise) never works, either. Hopefully it is nothing that requires surgery.

All of the joints are prone to injury in tennis. Shoulder, hip, elbow, knee as you have to engage and stress each of them in each shot. And of course you can roll your ankles and pull your hamstrings as well.

Hopefully, he can rest and rehab this injury and get back to playing at his best as his game looks to be at a very good level at this time.

Prajnesh will be going into FO without any match practice since his loss to Denis Istomin at the Munich ATP 2 weeks ago.

I think Prajnesh will be fine as long as his niggle has gone away. Sometimes a break is good.

He did play the Anning Challenger on clay before that (and made the final), but it would have been good to have played at least another match somewhere before the FO qualifiers. But hopefully he is simulating match conditions while practicing.

He would have made the main draw at both Geneva and Lyon ATP tournaments next week. But, still pulled out. I am getting a bit worried about his injury now.

Hopefully the decision not to play a tournament next week is merely precautionary. It would be a shame if the India #1 made merely a token appearance at the FO like his predecessor did at the Slams last year.

Prajnesh just made it in the Atlanta ATP main draw next week. After that he has made the Los Cabos ATP 250 main draw the week after. He has chosen to go there instead of Washington ATP where he mostly would have had to play qualies. After that Cincy and Montreal qualies most likely.

Thanks for the great, insightful interview with Prajnesh. Good to know that he's heading to play some Challengers in China. Hopefully he will dominate them without too much trouble!

As said in that interview, Prajnesh will be back to the grind of challenger tour now with 3 weeks of China challengers starting with Jinan next week. Saketh and Mukund will also be in China as will some of our doubles players.

Our players see points that they have to "defend" and go and play these challengers etc. That takes a greater toll on their body because it increases the number of matches. When you did not have the rankings, you have to play them. But did he really need to play the challengers? That is, would he not have made the cut for other higher ranking tournaments? At some point, you have to believe that you belong and play the hard tournaments (more point density) than the easier ones if you really want to make it.

Prajnesh has huge 279 points to defend for rest of the year ( i.e 45% of his total points of 610).He needs to earn at least 200 of those points in rest of the year to stay inside top 100 and get direct entry into Australian open. It is almost impossible to earn those many points playing only ATP events for Prahnesh. He will need to reach final of one of the ATP events or reach couple of SF's to do so. So, he has to mix in challengers rather then going for broke and ending up outside 150 and then again try to make his way up by playing challengers at that time.
