Ram should have skipped the doubles here considering the Newport qualifying.

As returning finalist he is deserving of a WC to the Newport ATP. On tennis channel last year, I recall some of the organizers at the tournament speaking highly of RamK's interactions with the tournament folks, so hopefully that will also work in his favor.

Probably too early to say? Anyway, he seems to "keep resurging" after each resurgence stops just when we think he is on a run. I want him to stop that and just keep on surging to some titles.... :)

Ramkumar and Quentin Halys (seeded fourth in doubles) gave a walkover to Aragone/Klahn in R1. That reduces the number of additional matches RamK will have to play over the weekend. But if he beats Istomin in the singles QF, Ramkumar is unlikely to be able to reach Newport in time for the qualifiers there.

Istomin will be real test tommorow and good that he has understood about his overt involvement in doubles and gave a walkover for his doubles match

His winning next match against Istomin will be a big upset too. RamK has had only 2 wins against top 200 players this year and string of losses.

Like Ram , Istomin too is not in a good form , in the last 6 tournaments that he has played, in 5 of them he failed to win a match and some of the loses were to guys ranked as low as 370 , 470, only match he won in last 6 tournaments was against a 400 ranked player but than quickly lost in the next round to a 234 ranked , so overall in the last 6 tournament's that he has played his form too is very poor , but Istomin seems to be finding his form as he has won 2 matches on a trot here and in his last match bagled his opponent in the second set to win 3 & 0 , so this match will be a tough battle of equals in terms of present form , and hope Ram prevails.

Juggling between Centre Court and Ram's match , but sadly both Nadal & Ram lost , Ram started the opening set well , even had BP's, but once Istomin's pace began to unravel quickly he wrapped up the set, In the second set Ram looked a bit more focused, but Istomin's experience was far too much to prevent Ram to take the match into the decider

Something seems to be bothering Ram, as this by far has been the longest slump he seems to be going through although he has been there in that situation on few occasions, but in between that, there was always a challenger semi or a final, or even the last quarter of 2018, inspite not so good results and form , he could still cobble up wins  over the likes of Vessely,Norrie both of them top 100 players.

Next week is a make or break week for him and hope it is the former.
