A good win for Sumit ... Next, he is having a tough match against the top-60 local player, Martin Klizan.

At € 69K+H Bratislava Challenger 2019, Slovakia

[R3] (16) Sumit Nagal (IND,251) vs (1) Martin Klizan (SVK,56)

Good to see consistency from Sumit in regularly winning multiple rounds in the tough clay court challengers in Europe. However, #56 Klizan will be his toughest challenge yet as he is coming of 3rd round performances at the French Open and at Madrid, so can play on clay and will also be in his home country. Good luck to Sumit!

Yes, it will be a huge upset if Sumit can win tomorrow's battle against Klizan and the crowd. With the consistency he has been showing of late, an upset has to happen one of these days, so why not tomorrow? :D

Great to see Sumit's consistency on clay. Klizan is going to be very tough on his home soil, but let's see an even bigger upset now!

Sumit down 6-1, 1-0. Although being outplayed on the scoreboard, there have been some long games, so hopefully he will make the second set competitive.

Sumit wins the second set 6-1. Looked like Klizan just tanked the last couple of games there perhaps preserving his energy for third set.

Let see how Sumit matches up to that.

Sumit broke back in the 4th game and now leads 4-3 but on serve in the third set.

Sumit holds after a long service game for 5-4.

Klizan holds at 15 for 5-5.

Sumit holds at 15 for 6-5. 2 aces in that game.

Klizan holds at 30 for 6-6. On to third set tie break.

And Sumit wins the tie break to complete a fantastic win. :bounce: :bounce:

[R3] (16) Sumit Nagal (IND,251) d. (1) Martin Klizan (SVK,56) 16 61 76(3)

He meets another Slovakian next up.

Next,

Amazing win by Sumit! Likely the best win of his career!

Only saw the first game of the second set in the middle of my work day and even though the lost that game after multiple deuces, he was dictating the rallies from the back court, so glad that he was able to sustain that the rest of the way. Hopefully, he can go deep here to at least the final....

Martin has been red hot at the clay challenger level with 2 titles in the last few months. He has a 17-3 record in his last 20 matches mostly at the clay challenger level. Sumit has been almost as hot with 2 SFs at the clay challenger level with a 14-6 record in his last 20 matches. Hopefully, Sumit can display the same form that he displayed against Klizan and pull out the win here...

When Varma called the win yesterday itself, I was itching to post, agreeing with him. One of those days when you just feel a hunch that a big upset is about to happen. Unfortunately, I had course grades due today at the university and had no time to watch the match. What a big win by Sumit. Great to see that he is back like this. Just when everybody else seems to be down. We needed a little boost. Go Sumit!!

Arguably the best run of form shown by an Indian on European clay in a long time?

Needs to convert it into a CH win.
