Re: Indian Shooting thread
How does exchanging of quotas work?
We can only win a maximum of 2 quotas per event, right?

Re: Indian Shooting thread
I am not talking about the Rahi's quota though. With Rahi and Manu both getting the 25m pistol quota and with Heena and Yasaswini getting the 10m air pistol quota Rahi will keep her 25m pistol quota and Manu will take one of the 10m air pistol quota, and she can automatically shoot in 25m pistol too as she already has mqs in it. And the one of the heena and yasaswini will get the other 10m air pistol quota. So, we have an extra quota which will be left and can be reallocated to other event.sameerph wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 4:28 amBut, Rahi is pretty good in 25M pistol too as we saw yesterday and in Asian games. She is particularly good in finals. So, unlikely that get quota will get exchanged if we get 2 quotas in that event.depleter wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 2:35 am I was hoping she would get the quota in 25m pistol as there is a higher chance for yasaswini and heena to get quotas in 10m air pistol than others in 25m pistol. And as we send manu for both the events we can exchange the extra 25m pistol quota with another event.
Another superb show by Saurabh who continues to amaze. So, we have 2 doubles gold medalist at the world cups this year ( Apurvi and Saurabh). I doubt if we had this kind of success in world cups in any year.
And yes this is by far the most successful year we had in word cups as we had already equaled last year's total medal tally of 10 but leading in terms of golds.
Last year - 4-2-4
This year - 9-1-0
But the main thing is that 9 of those medals(4-1-4) we won last year came from the first world cup in mexico in which the field was weak overall compared to the rest of the world cups last year.
Unlike this year where most if not all the big guns are shooting regularly as there are quotas on offer. Especially this Munich world cup where even the Chinese are fielding their full fledged team as they almost got all their quotas already.

Yes, and we can only field 2 per event too. Every country has one quota they can exchange for another event. As Manu will most likely be fielded in both 10m air pistol and 25m pistol, if we win 4 quotas one will be left to waste so we can exchange that quota with another event.Sin Hombre wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 4:44 am How does exchanging of quotas work?

Re: Indian Shooting thread
I am not sure if that is allowed. A country exchanges a quota earned by an athlete and then the same athlete competes in the same event as double starter from other event. It may be, need to check.depleter wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 4:57 am

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Well we can then just keep the 25m pistol quota and exchange the 10m pistol quota....nothing changes even then. Both are the same. But the above should also be allowed as the quota won is for the country and not for the player. Only the quota won on world rankings go to the player directly.sameerph wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 5:09 amI am not sure if that is allowed. Re: Indian Shooting thread
True, I also think so.
Really feel bad for Manu. She made such a comeback yesterday in 25M after a bad first day and was a few shots away from olympic quota and maybe even gold and pistol malfunction happens. I just get a feeling that she need a stroke of good luck somewhere and once she gets a medal at one of the world cups, she will really take off and go the Saurabh way. She looks too good a shooter to lie down for long. Also important for our mixed team event participation that she qualifies.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Understood, the likelihood of winning 4 quotas is low though, given we have 1 now (and 2 in the best case if Manu hadn't had problems yesterday).depleter wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 5:00 amYes, and we can only field 2 per event too. Re: Indian Shooting thread
Classic choking by Deepak Kumar
Was doing so well till the 5th series, well set to cross the 630 mark
Then that 103.6 in the last series, wasted every thing. So he is out with a score of 628.3
Ravi Kumar was terrible with a total score of 621.4
No quota in this event then.
Better give the youngsters a chance.
Divyansh still in contention, let's see if he can make the finals.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Wouldn't really say that it was choking, he was already struggling from the 4th series.

The qualification mark in Delhi WC is 586 and Beijing WC is 585. Atleast needs to do better than today.Sin Hombre wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 9:06 am Wouldn't really say that it was choking, he was already struggling from the 4th series.

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Btw I read in one of the news articles that the shooters are allowed to have two guns during the competition and they can use the 2nd one in case the 1st one malfunctions.
Is it true?
Is it true?

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Not that impossible. 6 Asian girls have already earned the quota in 25M and 4 in 10M. So, it will be much easier to get quotas at Asian qualification event and our pistol girls can surely earn quotas there. Of course, hoping that we get 1-2 of the those 3 remaining quotas here or in the final world cup in August.Sin Hombre wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 6:50 amUnderstood, the likelihood of winning 4 quotas is low though, given we have 1 now (and 2 in the best case if Manu hadn't had problems yesterday).depleter wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 5:00 amYes, and we can only field 2 per event too. Re: Indian Shooting thread
the sad thing is we don't even have back up for this. May be our most successful event with Bindra and Gagan kind of fell awayIndiaSports wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 12:46 pm Poor performance by our men in 10m rifle
