Umesh Yadav!!! Proves that every dog has his day. He almost choked to save 26 runs to Dhoni in a last over a few days ago!

Jadhav is injured and might be out of the WC.

Whom do we bring in as a replacement if needed?

I hope we look beyond the useless Rayudu, whose career record is puffed up with performances in Zimbabwe and India.

My vote would be for trousers as well. But Kedar seems like will be fit.

On a different note, if Rohit was younger, I would make him the LOI captain after the WC. Miles better than Kohli in this regard.

Agree. It would make DK's selection somewhat superfluous, but Pant as specialist batsman is still a much better pick than Rayudu.

I don't think Kohli has been too bad as Indian captain. A captain needs to be a motivator and not a de-motivator and should handle stress well; and I think Kohli has done well in both aspects. The Indian team has also done very well under him, better than Dhoni at least. That Kohli has underachieved in IPL is I think because he is himself not that motivated for IPL as compared to national duty (for which I don't blame him), but this lackadaisical attitude has also rubbed off on his RCB teammates. Kohli also gets a lot of flak for his rift with Kumble, because Kumble is the guy which the general public has a soft spot for, but I don't think that matters much in the long term.
On a similar note, now we are all proclaiming Dhoni as the best captain ever in the history of cricket, but I also remember the numerous times I used to curse him for his field placements and for letting the game drift.

In terms of LOI captaincy, I would have Rohit > Dhoni >>> Kohli

In terms of test captaincy, I would take Kohli >> Rahane >> Dhoni

If the England Pakistan series is any indication, the pitches at this WC are going to be 350-par score ones and would need power hitting at the end. Outside of Hardik, we have no one who can do that.

For the Lathi Charge we can rely on , Rohit, Shankar, Dhoni, Hardik.
These 4 have have the ability to clear boundaries more consistently

More consistently than whom? They are subpar except Hardik in comparison to the big hitters in the English team, say. Our best bet is Hardik. Then, a cut below is Kedar provided he gets his old form back and not this play a few balls, get set, and then hit mentality he showed in the IPL. Shankar can hit but he is inexperienced. Let's see what he can do. Dhawan certainly can but we are talking about the MO. Our best hope is that we have a long partnership with Dhawan and Rohit and then a long innings by Kohli and Hardik coming in the last 5-8 overs and tonking it. Rohit is slow though primarily at the beginning of the innings. I fully expect Kohli to be batting at a faster pace than Rohit overall.

Agree with prasen completely.

Another 350+ pancake on offer in the England odi series today. We are not winning the WC with a MO of Dhoni, Kedar and Shankar.

I hardly watch any cricket, but may do for World Cup. Coming to team composition for ODI, I am interested in knowing why and how guys like Chateswar Pujara, Rahane who seem to have sound technique especially on SENA pitches are not preferred to the likes of Shikar Dhawan, Vijay shankar etc for World Cup squad. Is such branding like good for Tests bad for ODI going to work in the coming World Cup? I look at team names on paper and it hardly evokes any confidence I don’t know how media is portraying India is favourite to win the cup
