We had some doubts about whether our ranking is justified or not. But I think there should be no doubts about that now.

India has played Bahrain times and has lost 4 of them and drew 1. Following link provides India's record against other countries

We were also playing West Australia. We do play practice matches against clubs, etc. But, why is it noted as international friendlies? Interesting is that we were pretty bad against Burma but good against Myanmar. Thailand used to own us. Just like Korea and Japan. Even Singapore has a winning record against us. Perhaps that is why the Thais were so upset. They lost to a country who regularly used to lose against Burma and Singapore!

We may need to win the match against Bahrain to be sure of making it to the next round. We are ahead of Thailand on goal difference (after that big win in the match against them). Both final matches will occur simultaneously, so if Thailand beats UAE, and we draw with Bahrain, I think UAE goes through ahead of us. Of course, if UAE beat Thailand, and we draw with Bahrain, that will be enough to go through too.

If we tie, we will almost certainly advance as one of the top 4 third place teams.

That is true. But I'm still hoping we can win the group and get an easy opponent. It would mean we win and the other game is a tie, which is thoroughly possible.

I read that in case of a tie for points in a group, head to head record will be counted first. So, if UAE beats Thailand, we will be thru as second team in the group even if we lose against Baharain. But, let us hope we win and qualify.

If we lose to Bahrain, Bahrain will leapfrog us into second in this scenario.

Statistically, this was an absolutely horrible game. Low possession combined with being completely out shot speaks to a low quality effort. A little unlucky that the other results didn't break our way but this really isn't a good team at the Asian level.
