Lakshya lost in the finals and comes home with a Silver
Finals
Lakshya Sen (IND) l. Li Shifeng (CHN) 15-21, 19-21
Disappointing, but not bad. He has a bright future ahead. Maybe he will end up winning gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics

It's funny to see Hungary at #2, and India at #6, but USA at #39thm, tied with Brazil, in the medals tally....

That will not be counted in the nation medal tally though. So, we are at 3 golds and 4 silvers, a total of 7 medals. Unfortunate for Lakshya. It seems he did not much left in the tank after the long SF yesterday. He had beaten this Chinese boys comfortably in the Asian juniors this year. So, he replicates silver won by Prannoy 8 year ago. Hopefully, he will have a better career than Prannoy though.
True, it does seem that USA has not sent their best athletes for these games.

Any and all of Indian “youth” achievements need to be discounted heavily. Well, most of them anyway. I’ll be loathe to draw any future hopes based off such results.

Re: Youth Olympics 2018, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 6th-18th October
While we should not extrapolate these results to our prospects at senior level directly, as I see 5 of our 7 medallists are really the best at their age in the world. 3 of the shooting medallists, Saurabh, Manu and Mehuli have already won medals at senior level ( Asiad, CWG) while Jeremy and Lakshya have proved to be near best in their age group a few times in last couple of years. So, one can see these 5 as quite capable of being medalists at senior level if not at Tokyo in subsequent olympics.

Simran wins the 5th Silver medal for India ... She lost the final against American wrestler in the Girls' freestyle 43 kg final ... Before that, she won all her 4 group matches to qualify for the final.
So now, we are on the 8th position with 3 Gold and 5 Silver medals.
Wrestling - Girls' freestyle 43 kg Gold Medal match
Simran (IND) l Emily Shilson (USA) 6-11

Very good performance by our junior hockey teams. Frankly did not expect these wins against Argentina and China.
Boys team seems to have the best chance to win gold.

Re: Youth Olympics 2018, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 6th-18th October
We are still a respectable 10th in the medal table with only a few days to go. We are still ahead of Asian powerhouse South Korea although traditional Olympic powers like China and USA have finally moved ahead of us.
These results could be a harbinger for better summer olympic performances by India in the near term although converting youth success to adult success isn't something we are great at.

Sameer, it's 5000m walk.
He won stage 2 with the timing of 20:35.87s, following the disqualification of initial winner Xin Wang for a lane infringement ... Patin finished just 2.3 seconds behind Suraj to win a gold as he had an advantage of almost 10 seconds after stage 1.
Athletics - Boys' 5000 metre walk
Gold - Oscar Patin (ECU) (20:13.69s + 20:38.17s) 40:51.86s
Silver - Suraj Panwar (IND) (20:23.30s + 20:35.87s) 40:59.17s
Bronze - Jan Moreu (PUR) (21:05.25s + 20:54.04s) 41:59.29s
