With a 50.63 she seems to have reduced the deficit by 130 points .
It seems the Chinese still in the lead by a whisker .
Could any one double check on this

She has won the gold unless she falls in the 800m or something

The (over)-confidence wasn't misplaced after allankit1407 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 29, 2018 2:48 amYes, that is why I said yesterday I was not as comfortable as you were .. I honestly expected this performance in long jump.. all comes down to Javelin .. she has to go close to 46 and hope wang stays below 40Sin Hombre wrote: ↑Wed Aug 29, 2018 2:39 am Her final jump looked closer to a 6.20 but went too far on the board by a couple of cm.
ankit, so if you go with PBs, 6m will lead to a 115 point difference. That will require Swapna to gain 42 points in the 800m which is doable but tight.

Wang with an improvement in her last throw .. still Swapana should be ahead by 60 or so points .. let’s see if she can improve in her last throw

Saw her yesterday during the shot put and what a courageous lady she is , face all strapped up with a nagging toothache which may be hampering her performance to a certain extent , but to overcome this and stay in the lead and on the way to gold is extremely commendable
So proud of Swapna

Swapna is only 21 and she should be a dominant Asian athlete in this discipline in the future.
She is well on target to hit 6100 here and as she grows, she can also get to potentially 6300+ which will be top 15 in the world.

63 pts lead going into 800m where she has a better PB then the Chinese .. As you said it’s her Gold to lose nowSin Hombre wrote: ↑Wed Aug 29, 2018 3:51 am Swapna is only 21 and she should be a dominant Asian athlete in this discipline in the future.

Re: Asian Games 2018, Indonesia - Jakarta Palembang 2018
What a throw by Swapna just when she need it.
Looks like in 800M the Chinese will have to a better time of about 4 seconds to overtake Swapna. Swapna has a personal best of 2.16.20 while Wang's personal best is 2.20.47. This season best for Swapna is only 2.19.91 which is still better than personal best of Wang.
So, the Chinese will have to show an extraordinary improvement in timing there or Swapna has to faller badly.
Bronze looks difficult now for Purnima with Japanese ahead of her seems to have a better 800M timing.

Ok, the difference is not much. Yamasaki is Personal best and season best of 2.16.03 while Purnima has a season best of 2.17.44 but personal best of 2.15.33.
It will be close between Purnima and Yamasaki for bronze.

1 second faster is 14 points so she needs around to be around 1.3 seconds faster than the Japanese.
