So this may be the first time. Give her age and injury I won't give her much if chance but let's see if she can pull this off.

Re: YONEX All England Open 2018
It started with a loss for us but expected one.
[R1] Saina Nehwal (IND,11) l. (1) Tai Tzu Ying (TPE,1) 14-21,18-21
Tai is currently too good for Saina as for most of the other players.

Any win from Srikanth is good at this point, his end of last season and start of this has been terrible.

Re: YONEX All England Open 2018
Yes, I watched his match yesterday and he was making horrible errors in first game. He did come back and play better after that but even in third game,he was leading comfortably and let it slip. Went a match point down and somehow win as the Frenchman rushed into his last 2 shots and overhit them. Srikanth is far cry from his last year's form which saw him win 4 super series titles. Not expecting anything from him this week.Sin Hombre wrote: ↑Thu Mar 15, 2018 2:47 am Any win from Srikanth is good at this point, his end of last season and start of this has been terrible.
Good wins by Prannoy and Satwik-Chirag. Prannoy too is coming back from injury and seemed to have taken time to settle going by his tame first game loss. Can back strongly though in next 2 games.

Re: YONEX All England Open 2018
Prannoy moves thru to the QF with a straight games win and Satwik-Chirag put up a great fight against world #2 pair.
[R2] Prannoy H. S. (IND,16) d. Tommy Sugiarto (INA,33) 21-10 21-19
[R2] Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (IND)/ Chirag Shetty (IND) l. (2) Mathias Boe (DEN)/ Carsten Mogensen (DEN) 16-21 21-16 21-23
Satwik-Chirag had a match point at 21-20 but could not convert. Anyway, this young pair is surely getting close to creating flutters in doubles circles at the world level.

Re: YONEX All England Open 2018
That's a heart-breaking loss for Satwik & Chirag. They have been knocking on the doors for a while and the knocks are only getting louder. A big break is certainly around the corner. I love the fact that they are still 20 (Chirag) & 17 (Satwik)! This pair is giving us a lot to look forward to.

Re: YONEX All England Open 2018
Yes, finally there is hope that we will get a world class doubles pair who will compete in the medal rounds of big events.
Srikanth lost in the second round after missing 2 match points in third game.
[R2] (3) Kidambi Srikanth (IND,3) l. Yuxiang Huang (CHN,42) 11-21, 21-15, 20-22
[R2] Pranaav Jerry Chopra (IND)/ N. Sikki Reddy (IND) l. (2) Yilyu Wang (CHN)/ Dongping Huang (CHN) 6-21,10-21
Again a match where Srikanth got off to a very slow start. He recovered later in the match but still far too many errors from him. Despite that he was up 20-18 but allowed the Chinese to take the next 4 points for the match. In his last year's form he would have thrashed this Chinese in straight games.
So, we have only 2 left in the QF.
[QF] Prannoy H. S. (IND,16) vs. Yuxiang Huang (CHN,42) - Head to head 2-1 to Chinese
[QF] (4) Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND,3) vs. (7) Nozomi Okuhara (JPN,6) - Head to head 4-5 to Japanese
Repeat of last year's world championship final for Sindhu which was one of the best ever matches on womens badminton tour.

Re: YONEX All England Open 2018
Another epic match between Sindhu and Okuhara and this time Sindhu win in an excellent comeback in third game.
[QF] (4) Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND,3) d. (7) Nozomi Okuhara (JPN,6) 20-22 21-18 21-18
Sindhu was 16-18 down in second game and won 5 straight points from there. Then, in the third game she was down 12-16 and 9 of the next 11 points.
Third win in 3 games here for Sindhu. Hope she has something left in the tank for next 2 matches.

2 more to go.
She has the game, the wherewithal and the will. Can she summon the mental strength? Not get overawed by the moment but relish it and stay focused to bring out the best. I know easier said than done.
looking forward!

Re: YONEX All England Open 2018
Prannoy lost in another tight 3 game match . He was up 15-9 in the third game but gave up that lead.
[QF] Prannoy H. S. (IND,16) l. Yuxiang Huang (CHN,42) 22-20,16-21,21-23
Damn, this Chinese Huang beat Srikanth 22-20 in third and Prannoy 23-21 in third. And he is not even one of the top Chinese. Just feel that our mens singles needs another coach soon after Handyo's exit. Or somehow get Handyo back.
Sindhu plays her semi final today against another Japanese.
[SF] (4) Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND,3) vs. (2) Akane Yamguchi (JPN,2)
Head to head is 6-3 in favour of Sindhu. But, if we last year they met 4 times and it was 2-2 and this year's one meeting was won by Sindhu. Sindhu has played 3 long matches so far this week while Yamaguchi only had 1 long match. I hope that is not a factor in today's match.
