Tata Open Maharashtra 2018
In major development (or should I say scoop?) MSLTA captured rights of organizing ATP 250 tournament for next 5 yrs with help of Maharashtra state government ... So from next year, Chennai open name has been changed to Maharashtra open ... This tournament will be organized in Pune at Shri. Shivchhatrapati Sports complex, where our February 2017 Davis cup tie was organized.

Re: Maharashtra ATP Open 2018
From an "Indian" Tennis fans' perspective, this may not make much of a difference. While I am happy for Pune, it pains me to see Chennai lose this tournament. I have fond memories of attending the first 2 editions - my first ever pro tennis event (if you discount a few futures events before that). Sad day for the city with so much of Tennis tradition.
Congratulations, Pune and Maharashtra!

Re: Maharashtra ATP Open 2018
I read a brief news about ATP tournaments likely to be held in Pune in a newspapers today morning. But, it did not specify when it will be held. I thought it was an additional tournament.
Did not get any news on Internet.
Is it confirmed now that this will replace Chennai open, Jaydeep ? Do you have any link ?

Re: Maharashtra ATP Open 2018
Is the stadium good enough to conduct such tournament? I was there for the Davis cup and one other challenger. Very basic facility

Ok, found this 1 article on the subject -
Chennai Open in a limbo
This makes it sound that it is still uncertain and IMG to take final decision this week.

Re: Maharashtra ATP Open 2018
Hey Sameer, sorry for late reply.
I have got to know it from MSLTA official when he called up. And he mentioned me that it has been finalized with approval from CM.

Thanks, Jaydeep. This is another article which gives a bit more details of this-
Will Chennai Open move to Pune?
I hope that it stays in India.

Yes, it is official. This is an article from sports start with comments from Karti -
Chennai Open no more
Good that TNTA is planning hold a challenger for men and women. There is a dearth of it this year in India .

Good that TNTA is planning hold a challenger for men and women. There is a dearth of it this year in India .
Karti however added, the TNTA has been assured of continued support from the State government to ensure the State continues to be one of the premier tennis centres in the country.
“We have had discussions with the government and they want us to hold international events and have assured us of their support,” said Karti Chidambaram, Vice-President, TNTA.
“We are planning to hold an ATP Challenger event, probably a week before the ATP 250 in Pune. I have spoken to the ATP also about this. All Indian players will be available and it will be helpful for them. There are also plans to hold a $25,000 WTA Futures event in the city.”

Re: Maharashtra ATP Open 2018
The entry list just came out for the inaugural Maharashtra open in Pune.
This is the entry list -
1 Cilic, Marin CRO 6
2 Anderson, Kevin RSA 14
3 Bautista Agut, Roberto ESP 20
4 Hasse, Robin NED 42
5 Vesely, Jiri CZE 63
6 Lu, Yen-Hsun TPE 71
7 Kukushkhin, Mikhail KAZ 74
8 Chardy, Jeremy FRA 77
9 Karlovic, Ivo CRO 79
10 Herbert, Pierre-Hughes FRA 81
11 Fuscovics, Marton HUN 85
12 Sandgreyn, Tennis USA 86
13 Albot, Radu MDA 88
14 Djere, Laslo SRB 90
15 Simon, Giiles FRA 91
16 Lacko, Lukas SVK 93
17 Copil, Marius ROU 94
18 Kicker, Nicolas ARG 96
19 Jarry, Nicolas CHI 99
20 Dutra Silva, Rogerio BRA 101
21 Kavcic Blaz SLO 102
22 (Q)
23 (Q)
24 (Q)
25 (Q)
26 (WC)
27 (WC)
28 (WC)
The cut-off is similar to last year at Chennai which was 100. But, there the seeds ( top 8) stopped at around 57 while here it is 77. So, after the top 3 the list appears quite weak.
I do not have details of aleternates but Yuki must be pretty high among alternates, RamK too.

EL including alternates

Yuki is 8th so looks unlikely he will get into the MD directly.
