Well, at least she lost after two full weeks to someone ranked higher than her. I would have rather she had won, but, it is okay. She needs to work harder to improve her tennis and fitness.

Argh. Tough losses by Nidhi and Sai too, in the final qualies. What happened to Sowjanya in that loss? Yikes.

Hard fought win for Pranjala over a fellow qualifier in first round.

At $25K ITF Women Hua Hin, Thailand

She plays another qualifier next.

Wonderful! She's on her way to reach top 600 and one more win (QF against the 31 y.o Pemra Ozgen) will take her to be India #3 in singles.

Another good win for Pranjala.

Next,

[QF] (Q) Pranjala Yadlapalli (IND,608) vs. Permra Ozgen (TUR,381)

This is a tough match for Pranjala.

She will be India #3 in the October 2 rankings irrespective of what happens in next match. Current #3 Riya Bhatia was defending title points from last year and she is not playing anywhere this week. So, Pranjala will be third behind Ankita and Karman.

Good to see Pranjala dominating players who are ranked similarly to her. That she's doing it outside India suggests she is at least mildly under-ranked.

Live ranking still shows Riya at 589 and Pranjala at 603 though.

That is because $15k and 25K level points get updated a week late. Pranjala's this week's points are not yet added in live rankings.

Right. So, she may not be #3 next week but maybe a week later?
