Good to see the quality of Indian performances improve in the third week -- precisely what should happen in a series of home tournaments like this. Arjun Kadhe has shown consistency, and Sasi seems to be achieving some of his potential at long last. Nice to see Aryan Goveas (another steady improver over the past year) joining them in the SF.

Arjun Kadhe is finally coming into his own as a pro at the age of 23. He had a decent junior career (reaching a ranking of 34 in the junior rankings) but has never made the top 1000 until now.
He and Sasi lost the doubles final to the Sood brothers (4 and 2). Last week Arjun (with Rishabdev Raman) lost the doubles final to the same pair in the STB (10-12).

Arjun served 13 aces in today's SF win and 8 in yesterday's win over second seed. It looks like he has developed big serve after his college stint. Lets see what he can do against Sasi who would be looking for back to back titles.

Must be, otherwise he wouldn't be playing pro tennis in the third week of September. I think he was still a junior at Oklahoma State (how much our dear late Dr Bhushan would have enjoyed that!) until last year, so he may have chosen to defer his final year. He has started having quite a lot of doubles success in college tennis, and singles was also progressing well.

Sasi wins back to back futures title after completing the straight sets win over Arjun ... These two titles win will give Sasi much-needed confidence to achieve more on the circuit.

Yes, Arjun completed his graduation one semester early attending extra classes on weekends etc. ... His father, Jayant Kadhe, planned this so Arjun gets few futures tournaments before the end of the season and he will be in better position (ranking-wise) for 2018 season.PKBasu wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 4:24 pm Must be, otherwise he wouldn't be playing pro tennis in the third week of September. Arjun has proved his dad right. He will be ranked in the 900s soon and will gain direct entry to some Futures.

After this week's points addition, he will be in between #800 to #810 on 2nd October ... And Kadhes target was inside top-750 before the end of the year.

We should keep an eye on Arjun. Based on his college singles results (not too shabby but not of the college top-25 variety) I'm not too sure if he would reach much higher than top-300 in singles, but I am pretty sure that if he takes doubles seriously like MB did right after college, he could well be our next top-25 doubles player.
