Re: P. V. Sindhu thread - Rio Olympics Silver medal winner
Dubai World Super Series Finals
[M2] PV Sindhu (IND,10) l. Sun Yu (CHN,3) 15-21 17-21
Sindhu lost to Sun Yu in straight games......
Sindhu was leading the second game 13-9 at one stage...
Her best hope now would be to beat Marin and hope Sun Yu beats Yamaguchi for a clean pass into SF.....

Yamaguchi beat Marin in 3 games today. So, we can have a 3 way tie either between Sun Yu, Yamaguchi and Sindhu for the top 2 places or a tie for second place between Sindhu, Yamaguchi and Marin.
Anyway, Yu-Yamaguchi match will be played earlier than Sindhu -Marin match. So, Sindhu will know what she needs to do.

Dubai World Super Series Finals
[M3] PV Sindhu (IND,8) d. Carolina Marin (ESP,7) 21-17 21-13
Sun Yu wins against Yamaguchi in 3 games...
So, Sindhu needed a win or better game score to grab the spot and she wins in straight games....
(I was in the middle of a release and couldn't watch the match... )

Marin lost all 3, quite surprising if she is at 100%.

Re: P. V. Sindhu thread - Rio Olympics Silver medal winner
I think she is not 100% but it could be motivational issues too. Marin is current olympics and world champion. So, she is probably finding it difficult to motivate herself for these events.
Anyway, Sindhu plays the Korean Sung in the semi final.
Dubai World Super Series Finals
[SF] PV Sindhu (IND,10) vs. SUNG Ji Hyun (KOR,6)
Sindhu has 6-3 record against the Korean and has won 3 of their 4 matches this year. But, Korean seems in very good form winning all 3 of her matches in straight games here.

Re: P. V. Sindhu thread - Rio Olympics Silver medal winner
Sindhu lost in three games against Sung in the semis of Superseries Finals ... In the first game, Sung took a 0-4 lead and kept that advantage throughout the game for winning it ... In the second game, Sindhi fought back and managed to play her game ... With the good net game and attacking game she managed to win it ... In the final game, Sung played smartly and managed to keep Sindhu back of the court so Sindhu failed to use her attacking game plan ... Sung again took 0-4 lead which she extended to 4-10 and then she kept the advantage for winning this game comfortably.
At Dubai World Superseries Finals 2016, UAE
[SF] PV Sindhu (IND,8) l Ji Hyun Sung (KOR,5) 15-21 21-18 15-21

Sindhu is at a career high ranking of #6 in this week's singles rankings. This is a rightful position for her based on her success this year.

Sindhu now moves into top 5 for the first time reaching a career high of #5 this week. Only Taiwanese Tai, Marin, Korean Sun Jing Hyun and Chinese Sun Yu ahead of her now. On her day, she can beat any of these. Hope she does it consistently this year and reaches world #1.

Re: P. V. Sindhu thread - Rio Olympics Silver medal winner
Congratulations to PV Sindhu winning his second super series title at New Delhi today.
These are her results this week.
[R1] (3) PUSARLA V. Sindhu (IND,5) d. Arundhati PANTAWANE (IND,157) 21-17 21-6
[R2] (3) PUSARLA V. Sindhu (IND,5) d. Saena KAWAKAMI (JPN,87) 21-16 23-21
[QF] (3) PUSARLA V. Sindhu (IND,5) d. (6) Saina NEHWAL (IND,8) 21-16 22-20
[SF] (3) PUSARLA V. Sindhu (IND,5) d. (2) SUNG Ji Hyun (KOR,4) 21-18 14-21 21-14
[F] (3) PUSARLA V. Sindhu (IND,5) d. (1) Carolina MARIN (ESP,3) 21-19 21-16
The last 3 wins were really quality ones. She is going from strength to strength after her Rio silver performance and to think that she is still only 21.
After this performance, she will get to world #2 in the new rankings ahead of Marin and behind Taiwanese Tai.

Fabulous performance by Pusarla Sindhu, especially the easy win over Carolina Marin in the final today. It shouldn't be long before she moves up from #2 to #1 in the world.

YES!
Sindhu is now officially #2 in the rankings, her career best....
But there is a huge gap between her and the Taiwanese girl at the top, and only a few hundred points below is #3 Marin...
