Leander is looking to create a record in double wins in davis cup. So, I am sure AITA will pick him and omit Rohan.

There is also some speculation there about likely changes in captain and coach due to indiscipline issue. In one other report it was also mentioned that Somdev might be interested in coache's role.

Very convenient to have this indiscipline issue related news published in the newspapers just before the tenure ends. AITA wants someone who just listens to them and not question and now with Somdev gone, they want to remove Anand as well. Other players are not going to raise their voice against AITA. Leander will be happy with the development. Rohan is probably the only one who might raise his voice but for that he has to be in the team :-) .

Saketh + RamK along with Leander + Rohan would be my choice. If Yuki gets his form back, he gets in instead of RamK.

Even in today's form, Yuki may be better than RamK. Question is if he will be ready to to play a 5 set match.
We can take a decision after AUS open. Against NZ it may be worth blooding Sumit too.

I think Sumit should be chosen for this tie. My team would be -

Yuki, Sumit, Saketh & one of Rohan/Leander.

Maybe its high time , DiPu are drafted in as sooner or later we will be needing a solid doubles paring .
And for the singles we can choose from the pool of players depending on their form and fitness.
When the competition in form of NZ is not very high , it is not a bad idea to experiment with them(DiPu)

I strongly vote for DiPu. Chemistry matters a lot in doubles. It is hightime they are rewarded for their perseverance and consistency.

This is Anand's response in an interview -

Nobody can point a finger at me, says Anand Amritraj

I hope he is retained if he enjoys the support of the players.

I agree, sameer. Anand has been pretty cool as a captain. He has kept things pretty straight too. Without him, we would've been even worse, because our players have all been a mess in the relationships among them. Anand seems to have managed to keep things moving despite that, and the players like him. I hope he stays.

Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy posted in Instagram that Adil Kalyanpur is selected as a reserve player for Davis Cup tie against NZ. But I don't see any news articles yet, do I miss something?

Why would they announce a squad 2 months ahead of the tie? The Nadal academy is blowing smoke...

I doubt any truth in this news.

As per this report, Ramesh Krishnan is a front-runner as the next Davis Cup non-playing captain of India ... Always better than Nandan Bal :puke: and SP Misra :oof: .

Davis Cup: Ramesh Krishnan in fray to replace Anand Amritraj
"The terms of both Anand and Zeeshan are coming to an end; so a few names were discussed in the executive meeting yesterday. The federation always wants former Davis Cuppers to occupy the posts. So Ramesh Krishnan is one of the names that were discussed. We are looking into it, and the decision will be taken soon," Hiranmoy Chatterjee, CEO of AITA, told TOI on Friday.

All India Tennis Association (AITA) members, who gathered at the executive committee meeting on Thursday, came up with a few other names like Nandan Bal and SP Misra, but Ramesh emerged to be the front-runner for the job.
Nandan was earlier appointed the Davis Cup captain in 2001, and Misra has been the captain before he resigned in 2013 after players demanded his resignation.
