Interestingly in 1992 he played doubles with Zeeshan Ali and in 2016 Zeeshan will be Indian tennis players coach at Rio.

Jaydeep, please keep posting. The formatting makes it easier to read when I am in a hurry. A bit of redundancy will not hurt any of us here. Just my POV.

Re: Leander Paes thread...
Match is on. Paes just lost his service game and the team trails 0-4 against the Croats. Make it 5-0. I assumed that the opponent team is seeded mainly because they are good at the CH level. Seem to be strong. BAGELED!
SECOND SET- Gabashvili lost his serve now. 0-6 0-2. Turning to be a nightmare. Phew! Leander finally holds for the first time in this match. 0-6 1-3 now. Can they force a comeback? Gaba holds for the first time too. 0-6 2-4 now. Easy hold for the Croats. 0-6 2-5. Leander to serve to stay in the match. And he served a double fault to surrender this match 0-6 2-6 to the opponents.
At € 520K Konzum Croatia Open, Umag

Did he have a choice? Given his ranking.vatsal323 wrote:What's the point of playing on clay days before Rio? Unexplainable!
Else there is a reason. Rio is only to make to it the books. Maximum appearances. Who cares? Bops saki would have been good.

Re: Leander Paes thread...
Leander and Rohan with their combined ranking would not have made it to the Toronto master main draw. So, I would not blame them for not playing together this week. Not sure if they would have played together even if they had a chance but giving them a benefit of doubt.
So, Lee had to choose one of the challengers. As Vatsal said, he could have chosen Segovia challenger which is on hard courts but is slightly lower level event.
While that would have been better, I do not think in doubles, surface makes so much of a difference. We have seen that last week when DiPu seamlessly moved on from grass to clay courts.
Lets hope that he gets some wins this week to build up some confidence ahead of Rio.
