Good performance by our archers in the Asian archery championships in Bangkok (particularly by compound archers).

Rajat Chouhan and Jyoti Surekha won golds in the mens and womens individual compound respectively. Our mens compound team won the gold while the women won a silver medal.

Among recurve, only medal was a silver in womens team event. Both Deepika Kumari and Jayanta Talukdar lost in the individual events.

This is the related news-

We also won bronze in mixed team event when the pair of Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das beat a Korean pair in a close match 5-4.

So, overall decent performance although would have loved to see medals in individual events.

Particularly good for mens team which is yet to qualify for Rio and would be hoping to so in the third world cup in Turkey which is a qualifying event for Rio.

Today in the world cup in Antalya, Indian mixed recurve team of Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari have reached the final beating pairs of Turkey (5-1), Russia (5-4) and Italy (5-1).

This is not a Olympic event but will give some confidence to Atanu and Deepika who will shoot in individual and team events later.

Today in womens recurve team event, Indian women beat Japan and Germany in narrow wins but lost to Russia in the semi final and will meet Italy in a bronze medal match.

In compound womens team event, Indian women beat South Africa and Germany before losing to Russia in the SF. They will meet Indonesia for the bronze medal match.

I am more worried about the form of mens recurve team though. They lost in first round against Brazil. They need to show better form tomorrow in all important olympics qualifiers and need to win 3 matches to qualify.

In mens recurve individual event, Atanu Das made it to the semi finals before losing to the Korean top seed who hit 9 consecutive 10's in the SF. Atanu will fight for bronze against Korean second seed.

Deepika lost in the round of 16 in the womens individual recurve.

More important Olympic qualifying round begins shortly for our mens recurve team which Atanu will be part of.

Phew...close ...we win 5-4 in first match against Turkey after going down (0-4). Mangal Champia seems to be some real poor form here...

We lost to Malaysia 4-5 in the tie break after being up 4-2. :damn:
