Re: ATP/ITF/WTA tournament calendar updates
I am not sure if these entries are after entry deadline is over but there is some player list updated here -
Australian Open 2016 Asia Pacific Wildcard Playoff
There does not seem to be any Indian listed there. But, I do not really expect too many of them as Yuki does not require to play here and Saketh/RamK/Jeevan/ Divij etc. are playing in the champions tennis league.

Re: ATP/ITF/WTA tournament calendar updates
Chandigarh will host a $50K+H ATP challenger in November as per this report -
CLTA stadium to host ATP Challenger tennis tournament in November
I am not sure of this is an additional challenger event in India or will replace one of the 2 challengers usually held in India in October - Indore and Pune in 2014 / Bangalore and Pune in 2015. I hope it is an additional one.

Re: ATP/ITF/WTA tournament calendar updates
ATP challenger calender for October has come out and instead of usual 2 challengers we have only 1 Pune challenger in India. Last year there was a challenger in Bangalore and the year before in Indore tagged along with Pune challenger. Lets see if a challenger in Chandigarh which they talked about in November will materialise. I hope it does.
As of now we have only 1 ATP and 2 challenger events in the year and as of now only 6 futures on the calender. In contrast China has 4 ATP tour events and 10 challengers on the calender and plenty of 25K futures too. Can we not hold even half number of these level of tournaments when we have more tennis talent among men than China ?
In fact the tournaments at both challenger and futures level have dwindled down from last year and the stupid Asian tour tournaments are planned instead of futures.

Re: ATP/ITF/WTA tournament calendar updates
The challenger and futures calendars for the first quarter of 2017 have come out.
The lone challenger which was in India (Delhi) in early part of last year in too is out of the calendar this time. So, we have gone from 2014 to 2017 from being hosting 3 challengers in February to none now.
Only good thing there are 6 weeks of futures lined up in February-March. There were only 3 of them this year and that too in April-May. So, at least our second string players will get to play at home in early part of the year when usually there are lower level of tournaments and tournament cut tends to be quite high everywhere.

Re: AITA News .....
Excellent news. But I highly doubt Ankita will get a direct main draw acceptance as mentioned in the article(I mean even if it's in the US open time).

Re: AITA News .....
Good news, although this is probably not the best thread for this news!
I don't think it is a full WTA tour event, but more like a high-level Challenger with prize money of US$125K. The photo of Ankita Raina suggests she has done a lot of solid physical work in the gym, because her muscles look very well toned.

Re: ATP/ITF/WTA tournament calendar updates
I moved this to calendar updates thread.
This is excellent news. Yes, PKB. This is the lowest level of WTA tournament, which WTA started a few years back which is equivalent of $125K challenger. Still, it may attract a decent field as compared to what Indian audience has seen recently. I am not quite sure if Indian players as of now have the ability to do much damage in the expected quality field but still it will create at least some buzz for the game.
MSLTA is doing a fantastic job in organising tournaments . Apart from this WTA event and ATP event in January, they will be hosting the usual mens challenger in Pune in November ( the only mens calendar left in our calendar) and couple of $25K womens challengers in Pune and Navi Mumbai in December which they do it every year.
We have pretty much nothing organised by other associations thru this year. Now, I hope someone from Mumbai/Pune can make it at least to the top of Indian Tennis roaster. Currently, we do not have anyone from Maharashtra there.

Re: ATP/ITF/WTA tournament calendar updates
So, finally some good news on mens challenger front. 2 Indian challengers now appear on ATP challenger calendar- $50K+H in Pune from the week starting November 13 followed by $100K+H in Bangalore in the week starting November 20.
Pune challenger is now an annual fixture since last 4 years but Bangalore challenger is a surprise and welcome addition.
These are the last 2 weeks on the ATP challenger tour. So, mostly the regular ATP top 100 players would have finished their season. But, we might see a strong field of those just below 100 aiming to make the cut for Australian open main draw.
