[RR2] K. Srikanth (IND,6) d. Tommy SUGIARTO (INA,8) 21-18 21-13

Srikanth gets the first game against Sugiarto...
In the second game, from 5-5, Srikanth ran ahead by winning 10 point out of the next 12 to get a lead of 15-7, but is letting Sugiarto slowly get back.... 16-13 now.....
18-13 now.....
And Srikanth closes it out 21-13, without giving any further chances to Sugiarto....... Great win..... :bounce:

Now, win the match against Jan tomorrow to top the group..... :goodluck:

[RR2]K. Srikanth (IND,6) v. Tommy SUGIARTO (INA,8) 21-18 21-13

Srikanth wins easily.

Now can we have both the Men's and Women's SuperSeries Finals Title.Quite Possible with Wang Shixian and Wang Yihan having the narrowest of chances of qualification to SF. :goodluck: :bounce:

So, even if Srikanth wins today, a SF spot is not guaranteed yet as there is a chance that Momota could win against Sugiarto and Srikanth could lose to Jan making it a 3-way tie with two wins each...
Same scenario in Saina's group as well... Even if she wins today, there could be a 3-way tie after tomorrow's matches...

Hey, titles are some way to go, man . Take it 1 match at a time.

Yihan Wang is already out which is great news for Saina. She lost 2 matches and the Taiwanese Tzu Ying Tai and Japanese teenager Yamagachi are already in the SF from that group.

Wang Shixian has only a small chance having lost 2 matches too. She has to hope that Saina wins both her remaining matches and there is a 3 way tie for the second spot.

[RR2] Saina NEHWAL (IND,4) d. SUNG Ji Hyun (KOR,5) 21-12 21-18

From 3-2 in the first game, Saina has won 13 out of the next 17 points to lead 16-6....., winning 7 straight from 6-5 to 13-5....
Closes out the first game 21-12 after not being able to convert 3 game points from 20-9...

Hoping for a straight games win here......

Much closer second game..... After leading 15-10, Saina let Sung back to within a point at 17-16...
It's 19-16 now..... Getting closer... 19-18 now...
20-18 with a couple of match points for Saina....

And she wraps it up in straights.....

As I understand the situation now,

In Srikanth's case, he goes thru to SF if he Sugiarto beats Momota regardless of what happens in his match.

If Momota wins against Sugiarto in straight games, it will be very tight. In that case, if Srikanth loses in straight games he is out while if he loses in 3 games, there will be a 3 way tie both in terms of matches and games and then it will come down to who has better points difference.

Of course, the best scenario for Srikanth is if he wins his match and next best being Sugiarto winning against Momota. In all other cases, calculators will have to be brought out.

In Saina's case, even 1 game win against the Korean Yeon Joo Bae will take her thru but of course she would like to win the match and top the group.

Good thing is that Saina and Srikanth will play their matches last in their group and will know exactly what is required to qualify or top the group before they start their matches.

In case of 3 way tie , first Games would be compared and if they are same then Points.

The rules are interesting this time...Even if Srikanth finishes 2nd this time..it is not guaranteed that he will face Chen Long who finished first in the other group...There will be a draw after today's play which will decide which first will play which second..(though the new rule is completely flawed)

Shixian lost her match. So, Saina just needs to win a game against Bae to ensure a SF berth...

Right now, Saina lost the first game but is leading 11-6 in the second.....
She actually needs to score more than 13 points in the 2nd game to qualify even if she loses in straights...... and she is leading 14-6 now. So, Saina is thru to the SF...... one hurdle crossed. Now, go win the match to top the group..... :D

From 6-6 in the second game, Saina lost just one point before finishing the game.......

Momota wins over Sugiarto in 3 games..

So, Srikanth needs to win at least a game against Jan to ensure qualification...
Even if he loses in straights, he needs to make sure that he doesn't lose by a margin of more than 26 points in the whole match. So, he should avoid something like 21-8 21-8....
Even if Srikanth loses to Jan, he has a chance to top the group if the points difference for the match is less than 7 points....

But I hope Srikanth wins the match and doesn't have to think of all the above scenarios..... :D :goodluck:

Srikanth wins the first game 21-17. He was completely dominating and leading 21-11 but allowed JOJ to come back to save 6 game points before wrapping it up.

I guess with that Srikanth qualifies for the SF.
